Need Advice on New 2010 Sahara Purchase!!!

Hello all! First Post, hopefully not my last. I am looking at a 2010 Sahara Unlimited that my wife has fallen in love with and wants for our next car (my lease is up on my other car in November). Anyways, we test drove it at least three months ago (exact same car) and I went back to look at it yesterday because we are ready to purchase and it now has 2500 miles on it and a couple of scratches in the paint on the left front front tire well along with a deep scratch on the driver side door handle. Thus, it has some use and wear and tear. I have done the invoice pricing and it comes out to $31,849. Edmunds TMV is a little less in the $31,800 range. I think the factory holdback is in the $994 ballpark. Anyways, I checked online this morning and their eprice is $31,299. I have been on the phone with their sales consultant (who is doing all he can to get me down there, but I told him we can come up with a deal over the phone/email which he did not like).

But anyways, I want an opinion on how much lower I should offer based on the eprice and the fact that it is not a new car due to the 2500 miles and the wear and tear it already has. Do I demand they replace the handle and do something about the paint and make a discounted offer due to the miles or do I accept them for what they are and make a more significant discounted price?

Any help would be great!

Thanks,
Brian

Is this the ONLY one you could get with the options you want, no others, no sacrifice on color/interior/options can be had? If so I would treat it like a used car purchase not a new one as it's obviously no longer new; as such I wouldn't pay anywhere near MSRP (of a new one) for it...Would need to be thousands less than the invoice IMO.

It is not the only one in the area, but the only one with the color that my wife wants that has nav and leather seats. I don't really care about the miles/wear & tear, just want to see how I can use it to my advantage. I am thinking about starting around $29K. Any thoughts? Should I start lower.

I have a feeling that the initial quote they will give me will be above their eprice which will frustrate me but then they will say their eprice factors in the miles and wear & tear.

I would ask to see the invoice, then whatever that price is knock off say $3k - $5k depending on how agressive you are (I would do $5k probably) :-) but STICK TO IT...

yea, what they said.

if you pay more than 25-26k for it, you're getting swindled.

it's no longer new with 2.5k on it and all those scratches/dings/dents you mentioned.

think about it this way, if you bought it brand new when you first test drove it and tried to sell it back to them now in the exact same condition it's in, you wouldn't get 31k for it.

if they won't come down, keep looking around your area and expand. paying $200 in gas to drive to the next state over to buy a truly new jeep is still cheaper than over paying by 5 grand for a damaged and used one.

f*ck that dealership.

side note: should you decide to go ahead and pay the asking price currently, let me know. i have some land in Florida you might be interested in.

Kind of mad at myself for not waiting further, but the sales guy called. I got real mad at him because he said he would do away with the ADM and sell it to me for MSRP and see if there are any factory to dealer rebates. I then proceeded to tell him of their eprice and he acted like he did not know what I was talking about. Then he said that the car was not used until it had 5K miles on it. Well I said that does not matter technically speaking. I am trying to make a deal and get the car off their lot. Once I explained a few things to him (trying to be as pleasant as possible) I jumped the gun and told him I would take it for $29K and nothing more. I should have waited for more replies. Anyways, he is going to call me back once he talks to his manager.

Ahhhhhhh!

I might be buying that land in Florida.

Just cause u said u would buy it doesn't mean you have to. Fck that guy. When he calls back tell him you found a better deal. (even if you didn't)... That's NOT a good deal, IMO.

if you owned this jeep and were trading it in, they would offer you coniderabley less, i would start at 35% less than sticker price and work from there.

I agree with everyone else, don't pay a new price for a used Jeep. Heck, I got my Rubicon unlimited brand new for 31k. This guy is trying to rip you off!

Yes, you can always do what my dad does when he's buying a new car and keep reducing your offer even when they agree to your counter offer. You aren't stuck at the 29K figure even if they agree to it.

I need some help too... have been looking for a month for a new ( my first Jeep )
i found a perfect 2010 sahara with what i want.. dealer said invoice- less 1% and then another 500.00 off.- or order a 2011 and still get 1% off invoice.. what would be fair to get them too on the 2010 sahara . . MSRP is right at 33K - everything except leather.
If i order a 2011 - it would be a sport with just a few options.. and then mod it after i get more money . i was thinking if they come down to 28K - that would be fair.. - I really like the 2011' interior though,.. just curious what you think

Here's stuff to ponder. With 2011's shipping the 10's should be goin at the best prices ever but the dealers will tell u right now is peak wrangler time with shitty weather a'comin

They will get u comin and goin. Just hope u get the color and options u really want and the rest is downhill

29k sounds like way too much for that vehicle, especially with the wear and tear mentioned. If they don't want to negotiate lower, walk away. They'll likely call you back.
