Need Help Fitting Tires

I just purchased a 2013 rubicon 4 door. I want to put some bigger tires and wheels on it however i dont want to compromise a lot in doing this. I prefer to level it only if that will do it and allow me to run 33's or 35's. if not will I need to get a body or suspension lift or both and what height. I really want to keep it as low as possible with this tire on it. I dont do a lot of off roading, but plan on getting it in the mud some.

hi there! welcome to the forum. the tire size and tire fitment discussion is one for the ages! i've added a link to the "largest tire size for stock JKs" for you to review. you should find a ton of great information in there.

also, with a leveling kit, you'll have no trouble squeezing 33" tires under your rig. tire dependent, you may require spacers, probably a good idea to have some if you're considering keeping your stock wheels. if not, most aftermarket wheels have proper back spacing and spacers aren't required.

a simple 2.5" lift kit would allow you to comfortably run 35" tires.

Check out the link Tabber gave you; lots of good info in there regarding tires/wheels, and some of the things you've gotta take into consideration to go bigger.

A few quick points:

There's a big difference between 33s and 35s, in terms of what you need to do to your Jeep, not to mention the cost difference btw the two themselves.

35s will lower your gas mileage quite a bit more than 33s; more than likely you'll need to buy an aftermarket tire carrier; if you ever do plan to go off road with any kinda regularity, you should think about adding gussets to the front axle Cs; and the 35s will rob you of power, which will be especially noticeable if you've got 3.21 gears...

Avoid the body lift, if possible. They look bad on JK's, and can cause you issues with shifting, in some cases...If you need to get a lift to do what you want to your Jeep, stick with a spacer lift, suspension lift, etc.

Easiest, cheapest route would be a $130 TeraFlex leveling kit, wheels with proper backspacing (see link Tabber gave you) and some 33" tires.

BUT

If you wanna go the 35" tire route, forego the above suggestion, buy a regular lift and go from there...

I run 33's all terrain's stock on my 13 JKUR, no leveling or lift. Fits fine with no rubbing. Firestone Destinations 285/70/17

I have the same dilemma as Jonl....but my problem is two-fold, I live in a condo and have height restrictions. Hence if I take the height from the spec sheet (70.9"), a 2.5" lift, 20s (1 inch radius delta) and 35s (4 inch delta)....total height 78.5".....is my math right? Clearance in the garage is 79"

I personally went with a 2.5" Rock Krawler lift with 315/75R16 (approx 35") Diratracs and couldn't be happier.

sort of. my disclaimer is nothing is as advertised. i have a 4" short arm lift, 315/75r16 and my vehicle height is right around 76"

I hope to get a pleasant surprise (like yours @ 76") and not 78+....I took my chances and went with that setup, if it doesn't work I guess I have to move within the next 30 days.

Wheel size will make no difference in tire height , a 35" tire is a 35" tire regardless of the wheel size...

Agree will not make a difference in tire height, now it will make a difference in total vehicle height, it's basic math.

Pretend you have 2 cars side by side (no tires on them)....the one with 20" will be 1.5" taller than the one with 17" (radius)
