Need help planning a lift job (Height / Width)

Planning on lifting a 2012 Wrangler in the coming months but need to be sure it will fit in my garage.

Allowing a little room for variation, my door opening HEIGHT is 78 inches.

If >79" = SCREEEECH!!!

I'm basing everything on the 2011 dims.

My question to anyone with experience with the 2.5 Teraflex lifts:

Is the 2.5" Teraflex kit really 2.5" or is it higher/lower in the front or back?

Is my math correct below?

According to Jeep.com:
JK Rubicon-trimmed hard top is ~71" tall (soft top is +1" so ~72")
JKU Rubicon hard top ~72.4" (soft top is not indicated (assume +1" to make ~73.4"))

I'm looking at the Teraflex 2.5" kit w/shocks with 35X12.50R/17 BFG KM2s (I know they aren't exactly 32" or 35" but for sake of getting too technical), we'll ignore that.

So if my math is correct: Bh + Lh + ((NTh - BTh) / 2)
(See above about getting too technical )

Bh = Base height of stock vehicle
Lh = Lift height
NTh = New Tire height
BTh = Base height of stock tire

JK w/Hard Top with 2.5" lift and 35" tires:
71 + 2.5 + ((35 - 32) / 2) =
73.5 + 1.5 =
75" TALL (76" in soft top)

JKU w/Hard Top and 2.5" lift and 35" tires:
72.4 + 2.5 + ((35 - 32) / 2) =
74.9 + 1.5 =
76.4" TALL (77.4" in soft top)

Tires are usually a little smaller (ex: 35's are really 34.8 according to BFG's website).

Adding weighty items like bumpers and winches affect height as well.

I just don't want any surprises when I back her out of the garage

A TF 2.5" coil lift nets 3.1" of lift on average.

If you bought a jeep and you're not gonna expect any changes "surprises"--don't getta jeep-

Every one is different/diff.springs/diff air pressure/diff temps/diff loads/diff corp lean/diff levels-

My '08 JKU/w 2.5" lift/33.2" tires is 73" front, 76.5" back/w roof rack-
If you add 35" (34") tires you'll still be well below 78", but

With the jeep, you've gotta be able to expect the unexpected !!

Be kewl-

just buy a little air compressor and when your ready to leave the garage, lower the tire pressure, and air back up before you leave. Jeeps don't like being in garages anyways...

Very true. I think I'm pretty safe at 2.5" and 35's.

I called AEV today (I live near their Michigan location) and asked how tall their 3.5" lifted 4 doors with 35's and they say those will clear my door by 2"...but I'm finding that hard to believe.

I may drive out there (20 min drive) and measure one in their lot.

I'm thinking if I go 2 door (see my other thread about the child seat), then I'd get to 2.5".

If 4 door, then 3.5" (more $ for shafts(?) and labor though).

In my neighborhood they do.

It's the punk-ass-wannabe (bored) subdivision teenagers that love Jeeps not parked in garages.
