Hi all, I was stumbling around in my garage this afternoon and found some new speakers that I was planning on putting in my boat. I sold my boat a year ago so now I say to myself, wow, you guys have been replacing speakers on this forum for a long time so I will ask you these questions. These speakers are PolyPlanar, 6 1/2", two way, 60 watt, 4 ohms. I swapped out these for my OEM speakers in the sound bar overhead. I figured anything should be better than OEM speakers, right? I swapped them and powered the radio up and was really dissapointed. I have lost all of my bass response and I have my bass adjusted up all the way to +9. I have read all the threads on speaker replacements on the forum but could not find what I was looking for. I know some of you have spent a lot of money on speakers only to find out that it is the head unit that really sounds bad. I probably spent about $60 on these speakers so that is not small change. One thing I might try is switching the speaker wires around. I know that with 120V wiring the green wire is for ground and the black is for power and the white is neutral, but if I remember correctly , with 12 volt wiring the green is power and the black is ground. Is this correct and can someone tell me what you did for your hook-up? I guess I could just pull them down and try it but I thought I would ask here first before I go to the trouble. My speakers have a red dot on one of the connections so I assume that is the power connection. Is this correct? Maybe I should be using 8 ohm speakers instead of 4. Help! I'm confused! Thanks in advance for your help and advice.
P.S. The OEM front speakers sound really nice compared to these.
