For the ocd guys that want a perfectly waxed, armorall tired, plush ride, show-type blvd. cruiser jeep.

I've been saying for months, we need a Mall Crawling section, it'll remove a lot of the clutering bs of those wanting their Jeeps to look like a damn Jeep Barbie. and i promise to keep that section safe for those who need a damn hug and a bottle of facking wax. Having those posts here in the general section makes me cringe every day, "what would i have to see today in our forum" ?? Don't know what happened with those days where offroading used to be the theme of the day, damn boys, you guys are still driving Jeeps, at least pretend to kick some dirt from time to time, it doesn't hurt :)

If any of you hardcore Jeepin' mans men saw my Jeep on most days you'd call it a mall crawler...but you would be wrong.

Just because I like to keep my stuff looking as good as possible doesn't make me any less of a Jeep owner than those of you who allow your Jeep to look like crap.

Go ahead and enjoy your scratches, scrapes, dirt and mud, wallow in the mud if you like. Just don't assume that because my Jeep is clean and well kept that I don't enjoy using my Jeep "as intended" just like you.

I don't go out looking for the difficult rock crawling trails that you real men do to prove your worthiness. It's not my thing. But I am an avid backcountry flyfisherman and my Jeep gets me to places that many people can not get to.
Because of that I love my Jeep and I treat is as such.

I assume this new meta-puddy-Jeep category would be for those too lazy and wussed out to clean and properly maintain their equipment correctly. My last Colorado trip took me over 18 hours to clean up afterward. 3 days later I was off on the next adventure. When that was over I spent another 2 days detailing in preparation for the next trip. And the cycle continues. You see, that is what a real man does. He takes impeccable care of his possessions. The majority of breakdowns I see on the trails are caused by lack of mechanical knowledge. The second most prominent are those who never get cleaned and maintained.

In 74 I bought a CJ5 with a 304. I had several buddy's and we would take them out in the mud through the woods or wherever we could find land to play on. I would come home put on my speedo grab a hose and a brush and climb underneath it and blast all the mud off. Then blast all the mud off the outside then hit the inside. Finally break out soap and water and wash it the best I could trying to get the dirt mud out of all the spot welds in the body panels, the trail rash gave the paint a 3D affect but it wasn't a mall crawler by any means. Now I'm 62 and wish I could go play like I use to but I don't think that I could take it not sure my speedo would fit anymore.

In all seriousness, the section can be called "Mall Ready" or "Pavement Prep" or something alike, we don't want to discourage people from owning a Jeep, the idea is just to direct those who have concerns with the latest nano waxes or ocd about little paint blemishes or tiny little doggy scratches etc, to have a more direct connection with those peers, and have their full section dedicated to such a thing, could it be really such a bad idea ? Think about it...

The "General Discussion Forum" is definitely a catch-all category.
It would indeed make sense to have more sub-forums to aid in categorization and navigation.

Things like:
Bumpers, Rock Rails & Armor
Cleaning and Detailing
Soft & Hard Top Questions
Wheels and Tires
Etc.
Could all be sub forums in each of the model year forums.

But that's not up to me, only the owners/moderators can decide this.

I'm hoping the mods would think about it one more time, We really need/want a stock JK section, this forum is awesome, and probably the only one that combines the biggest diversity of folks, from hardcore offroaders to absolutely car show like enthusiasts, separating the crowd/needs into a subforum just to cater the last, and of course those who like to engage in more interesting topics that involve actual offroading, will be absolutely beneficial for everybody.

Don't get me wrong, i think that from time to time, it's therapeutic to read about the latest technology to blacken a fender for a chance :), but it would be a lot cooler to know for instance, the difference in shock valving between a Fox or a King shock, and/or how the ideal gap between a King air bump or similar air cans and the shock tower pad should be for optimal suspension travel, shock/spring specs in general, i'm sure there are some people interested in expedition setups, vs those who loves rocks, vs those who like to go fast, and the combination of everything in between. and this just a small topic that fall in the modified section.

"Hardly anyone posting new threads in the JK tech section. Might be too boring in there........."

my impression, is those doing those things by and large are busy trying to make 'em all run again, while those not in there are busy polishing their fenders;

geezers like me have done much of the stuff they don't care to repeat, and often find satisfaction in the actual OEM virtues so despised by the modders & shinola crowd.

I continue to marvel at such an adaptive widely individualized vehicle that continues to irritate such as CR yet factory however inept/criticized/ sells all they can build every year & the line to purchase just gets longer.

My buddy is example of the crazed modder with more in new parts than the JK cost, yet still is unsatisfied with the results.

His vision is certainly different than my own, yet I'm satisfied with what I got, that performs at a level beyond my daily requirements. I live rural & have certain lifestyle factors such as reliability to govern my enthusiasm. His suburban pavement lifestyle would drive me crazy, yet his Jeep has been to sand & mud & trails I've never seen.

Our mutual interests are nearly balanced by our distinct differences. And I really don't care what color your underwear is.

What's a meta-puddy? I tawt I taw a puddytat?

I'll never understand guys who DD their Jeeps and have them looking like crud, and then talk smack about people who keep their Jeeps clean. Do they also get out of bed and don't make it because they have to get back into it next night?

I can understand a pure trail rig being all crusty and dingy. A Jeep that is a DD being kept perpetually dirty, to me, is an equivalent walking out the door in dirty clothes day after day.
