Need pics of Willys with 1.5" wheel spacers on stock wheels.

My White Willys JK should be ready any day to take delivery. I like the look of the stock wheels and tires, just wish the stance was a little wider. Any one out there have any pictures of one with 1.5" spacers on? Looking at the Spidertrax ones.

Here's my Rubicon (same wheels and tires as the Willy's):

That's probably the best shot of the stance. Hard to tell but it looks less like a mail jeep now. I'm running Spidertrax. They're a bit more expensive but worth it. And don't forget to take the retaining rings off the studs. If you don't know what I mean, watch the video. Very important. One member lost a wheel and tires that bounced across the freeway a couple of weeks back.

Cool, I just ordered the Red Rock 1.5" from Extreme Terrain. The sale on them ends tomorrow.

Not sure on the Red rock spacers but Spidertrax are hubcentric. This is huge reason why people go with them.
That post above is post #3 of this thread. I post links so people don't have to post things like 'Not sure on the Red rock spacers but blah blah blah spidertrax blah blah blah'. How long have you been working for spidertrax? :lmao:

Nope, these are plug and play. Just make sure you "plug" correctly... Correct installation is everything.

Man, that looks great, Digger.

My main concern is throwing so much more crap up inside my Jeep when I have the doors off, which is pretty much always. When I've gone out with a friend who has tires sticking out beyond his fenders, his Jeep gets so much more roostertail of wet mud up the sides than mine does, and if windows are open or, God forbid, doors off, he gets a dirt bath.

I don't know that, for me, the better looking stance will trump the better protection of tires tucked back inside the fenders.

But boy, it do look good! :thumb:

Just my 2 cents. Before I traded in for a 14 jk Willys, I had a 12 jk sport and put on 33 inch nitto trail grappler ats on mb razors 17's. It ended up about 1.5 inches past the fenders. It rode terrible and always made a mess with bad weather. Just be careful what u ask for, looks don't always trump a clean good ride. If your gonna do mods for serious off roading thats one thing, but if its ur dd, just do ur research.

Out of curiosity, what does this do for warranty or how does a dealer look at it. I ask because I have the oil change and tire rotation package on both my jeeps. Thinking of getting a set, will I need to start doing my own rotating?

I've heard some people say that dealerships/shops may refuse to rotate your tires if you have spacers due to the fact that they could be liable if they failed. (even though they shouldn't actually touch your spacers in the process)

My dealership never mentioned my spacers when I had my tires rotated under the "Oil Change and Tire Rotation Package". So I'm sure it just depends on the dealership.

However, as far as your warranty goes, the only way it would effect that is if they could prove that your spacers caused something else to fail. Which isn't likely if you have them installed correctly and maintain them as mentioned in previous posts.

Any more info on the Red Rocks? The price looks good but does the quality match the Spidertrax? Any idea where they are made?
Not sure. It doesn't say on the website which made me assume they were not made in USA, and I don't have time to call and ask these kind of questions for every product I want to buy.

Although I was going to go with Red Rocks, I decided to go with Spidertrax 1.5" in anodized black color. I purchased two sets (they come in two spacers/set) from Northridge4x4, and I got a 10% discount and free shipping using code "4WHLNDLN." Better use it while you can!

I've been running spacers in Porsches for a good while, and nobody ever even mentions there being a problem with these. It's so much easier because Porsche doesn't use wheel studs and lug nuts; they use lug bolts. So to run spacers you just get an aluminum disc of whatever diameter you want, with five holes drilled for the lug bolts to pass through. The spacers come with longer lug bolts, of course.

If you get above 25mm (1"), they are now a two-stage process: bolt the spacer to the wheel carrier, then bolt the wheel to the spacer. The ones below are 30s or 35s, I can't remember now.

But either way, I never hear talk on the forums or among friends of having to go back and tighten, or check, or be careful about how you mount. They are treated exactly as you would treat an un-spacered wheel. In fact, I had a 2004 Boxster S special edition that had H&R spacers from the factory.

What makes the Jeep application so finicky?

I'm willing to bet improper maintenance practices Have caused all the hysteria ...... I work in a hyper safety sensitive field and deal with maintenance campaigns to check or correct an issue usually caused by shoddy maintenance practices that cause component failure..

So I saw the thread and thought I would throw in my $0.02.

I didn't want to get a 3" lift and go through all the motions for my JKU. I settled with a TF 2" BB and kept everything stock. This allowed me to run some 285/70/17 duratracs. Absolutely love them. I got just a small BS rubbing issue so I did my research and decided to go with the spidertrax 1.5" spacers. It really made the difference. The JKU is my current daily driver. I make sure it's torqued properly and rotated with my jeep dealership since they will work with the spacers on it. Most small places won't touch the tires if they have spacers.

2 things: there's not a place around here that I found that won't work on a vehicle with spacers installed, sounds like a urban legend. Conrad's, NTB, Jeep dealerships, Goodyear, Firestone, Sears, etc. There's even non-Chrylser dealerships that will work on Jeeps with tires and wheels on spacers. They laughed on the phone at me when I asked. Secondly, there are 3 Jeep dealerships within 12 miles of each other and they all offer the Mopar lift kits AND offer a 3-yr/36,000 mile warranty on them. I know there are differences in state laws, but just feel like some bad info gets passed along in the forums occasionally. Not calling anyone out, just offering a difference of opinion based upon my findings and having worked at dealerships before.
I'm installing Spidertrax 1.25" in under 1,000 miles at my first oil change at a Jeep dealership.

I got the red rocks today and installed them. The fit and finish was good. They have a snug fit over the hub. Go up to 60 with them and no vibrations. Felt like stock. Took before pics from front, back and an angled side pic. I'll take some after pics tomorrow and post them. It made a world of difference. They are flush with the fenders if not a smidge over. Changed the whole look. Used red loctite and removed the washers they use to keep the hubs on during production. Gonna remove the wheels tomorrow and make sure they are still torqued good. I torqued the spacers and wheels to 100lbs.

Awesome!

I'm trying to picture this in my head, but how do you torque the nuts that secure the wheel spacer to the hub [with a torque wrench]? In other words, how are you preventing the hub/wheel spacer from spinning? Are you getting someone to press the brake?
I put it in 4WD and engaged the parking brake. No problems doing the rear like that. But in the front, I had to have the front right tire touching the ground in order to torque the left front side but not vice versa. I jacked the axle up from the middle so both tires were off the ground and did one at a time starting with the right side. I don't know why the brake held the left tire as I torqued the right but not vice versa.
