Ry all just bought a new 2015 Unlimited trying to figure out what rims look best. I am getting a 2.5" lift with 35" Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ Radial tires. Any pictures or suggestions on what size rim to put with these? I hear an 18 inch room is not cost-effective

17's seem like the best all around size( I may be biased though since that's what I'm running). Cost of tires isn't astronomical compared to 18-20" wheels. 17's also provide plenty of sidewall for off-road with 35's at the end of the day I think it all comes down to personal preference and $$$.

16" and 17" are the most cost effective (15" rims are too small for the JK). 18" may be the worst because there is limited availability of rims and tires unless you are keeping a stock set of Sahara rims.

It's all a matter of opinion, but 35" do look balanced on a set of 17" rims and perform well enough off road. If you stay on the pavement and only care about looks then its just a matter of personal preference. Check out the Picture Forum for thousands of examples.

My understanding of the wheel/tire selection mystique:

15" = Limited wheel selection / Excellent Flotation size choices up to 35" $ OFFROAD
16" = Excellent wheel selection / Excellent P-Metric and Limited Flotation choices $$ OFFROAd
17" = Excellent wheel selection / Excellent P-Metric and Flotation choices 37"+ $$$ OFFROAd
18" = Modest wheel selection / Limited P-Metric and Limited Flotation tire choices $$$ OFFroad
20" = Limited wheel selection / Limited P-Metric and Limited Flotation tire choices $$$$ Offroad

*Capitals in "offroad" denote prowess crawling/mudding, fewer capitals, more street worthy

The 16's deserve a little love. If you like the tires looking BIG, the smaller wheel gives you that...
