Degrease, scuff, clean again, spray, clear, dry, done.

there's a few writeups out there, but basically as IG said.

only thing I'd add is to mask off the tires. (it doesn't have to be perfect, but the better you do, the less work you have afterwards.)

It'd be wise to remove the wheels from the vehicle. If there are any wheel weights on the outer lip you may want to remove them, then do all the painting, then let them cure for a cpl days, then reapply the weights...making sure you apply them in the correct locations.

Scuff them so the paint can adhere, priming is always a good idea.

minimum of 2-3 light coats of paint is a good number usually.

a coat or two of clear

Krutj,
How have these been holding up for you? I'm concerned about the life and/or how easily they chip or scratch...

They have been holding up very well, I haven't done any serious off road with them, just gravel and crappy two lane blacktop(everyday).

I've been using a wash mitt on them, but not overly careful. This winter will be a good test. My bedlined and painted grill got it's first chip yesterday, but the wheels are good still. No visible scratches yet.
