Need to vent/bitch

Sorry if noone wants to hear it but Im not to thrilled with the changes to the 08 Wrangler. More specificly the X S package 2dr.... Jeep took away, and jacked up the price Gone are the standard fog lights, 17 in aluminum wheel choice, and 4:10 gears. And by ridding of the said items towing capabilities have been compromised by 1000.00 lbls. It now comes with a Class I hitch with and with the 1000 tow capacity which next to worthless. I really was considering trading in the pickup for a Wrangler. But even a 12 ft aluminum fishing boat/trailer would be pushing it for the new Wrangler.....Atleast with the 2000lb tow capacity of the 07's was respectable, and practicle...

Well ya gotta figure that Jeep would jack the price up a bit when the say how many they were selling. I'm sure the factory says 1000lb towing because of the Class1 hitch. If it came with a CLass2 it would be 2000.

^nice avatar, im a Captain America fan too..........
So with the 3.73's rather then the 4.10's and w/o the heavy duty springs that came with the 17's if a put on a Class II hitch it shouldnt be a problem. I guess my question is how much of a towing difference with the 3.73's make rather then the 4.10's ....

Its not so much the towing capacity as would be the available power band. With 3.73's you might have to mash the pedal a bit more but the gear ratio has almost nothing to do with towing ability. I'm not sure if they did some with heavy duty spring for the towing package, but its nothing a small spring lift or spacer lift can't take care of.

I was equally upset when I went to order mine and saw the 4.10 was not available for the X anymore. However, the 1000lb capacity is for the stock gearing. If you go with the 3.73($50 upcharge) your towing capacity goes up to 3500 lbs. I didn't notice this until a few days ago and luckily my jeep was not built yet so I was able to change it to the 3.73.

Ordered my X today and was thoroughly disappointed that the 4.10 gears were not available. I'd argued that they were based on my cousin's 07 having them as an option. When it was made clear that they were now only on the Rubicons I instantly came to the conclusion that Jeep must have trimmed some excess to create more profit as the JK's are flying off the dealership floors. As popular as they are, people are going to keep on buying 'em. Hell, I'm one of the suckers!

I would guess the 3.73's vs the 4.11's might have something to do with mpg perhaps?

The 3.73s aren't bad but if your going to lift it or anything your better off with 4.10s

may want to check with another dealer. our local one orders the 'X' with D44's and 4.10's. they'll even put lockers in for you. of course these guys are WAY above the average dealer.

I think only the Wrangler unlimited with the tow package allows you to tow 3500lbs....not the 2 door....

I know Im starting to sound like an grumpy miserable old man but, ya know what else sucks. Is the interest rates for new cars. Why can't The Chrysler Financial offer a consumer friendly interest rate for people with good credit? My wife recently bought a Honda Element and they had interest rates bewteen 2.9-4.9 % for qualified buyers. Ive been doing a lil research and it looks like when I go to finance my JK I can expect a interest rate between 6.3 and 7%.....C'mon Chrysler Financial no wonder your not in the top 3 anymore..

I never finance through those guys. My local banker and I have a 30 year relationship. Credit score and sound background means you can do better than those bozos offer.
