I'm looking to install light brackets on the windshield of my 14 jeep wrangler, to do so I need to remove the torx screws. What size are the screws and what size tool do I need? Even better, know where I can buy one for cheap? Thanks
As far as Torx bits go don't buy the cheapest set you can find. The bits wont last long as they are usually some cheap untempered steelT and owning a Jeep your going to ned a good torx set. The kobalt set mentioned above is a good set with a very decent price.
I actually have the 63 piece kobalt set, but i don't think any of the attachments work on the torx screws of the jeep windshield. If you think i'm missing it, do you know which attachment number in the set will work?
I will edit my description and remove "amazing" the set is Craftsman but I believe it was made in China NOT the typical Made in USA that I had come to expect from Craftsman but....
is what it is I guess.
Be really careful removing, don't want to booger up those. My experience - some are tighter than others and the winshield ones were tight (doors and top, not so much).
I got a T40 Kobalt bit at Lowe's for I think 3 or 4 bucks. In the interest of space savings, instead of buying a whole set, my plan is to figure out all the different sizes and buy just those individual bits to keep in the Jeep. (Same thing with wrenches/sockets.)
Thanks guys. Went to lowes and got the kobalt T40 for $4 and it works perfectly. Next question, what size do I need for the smaller torx bolts in the metal piece in front of the windshild with the vents?
