Need wider tires, not taller-fender flare clearance?

2014 JKU. Live at beach. Need wider tires for sand, don't need taller-no rock crawling. Want to put 12" wide tires (305/65-17) on new wheels with 4.75 backspacing. Should have no problems rubbing on interior wheelwell area, but worried about tires extending past fender flares and hitting flares when I hit a large bump. Would like to avoid lifting. I'm hoping putting flat fender flares (Bushwacker, etc.) will give enough room to avoid flare rubs. Don't need to articulate much, just daily driving and occasional bump on the beach. Anyone tried this setup? Good or bad?
