New 2010 JK, like it miss my TJ anyone else miss theirs?

Just bought my 2010 JK Sport a couple of months ago, I like it, I do. I do miss my 97 TJ with my 2 1/2 inch Rancho susp lift, 15x8 MT2 rims with 33x1250 BF mud terrains. LOVED MY TJ....... Does anyone else have reservation on the JK. I like it, its growing on me but not sure I like the look as much. The front end is too slanted, dont care for the new tail lights and the front bumper is god awful.

Time to start modding! I know what you mean about loving your TJ... I was just looking at JK's and the same thought came to me... Nah, I love my TJ! Make that JK your own and you'll probably grow to love it as much as the TJ.

Welcome to the forum. If you hate these ugly bumpers the good news is they come off easy to make way for some real bumpers

being that you only need 2-3 inchesof lift to run 35's...just get 35s

I am worried that if I get 35's I will have to regear. Its not a Rubi. Anyone have issues running 35's on a 3 inch lift with gear or driveline angle issues?

35's work with a 2.5" lift. might rub just a little, if so get a 1" BL and it's done. driveshafts will be fine. if you've got a D35 rear watch it. shafts and/or gussets MIGHT bend but not always. depends on your wheeling style.

i will say one thing. the newer sports suck vs. the older ones. i've got an 07 X with 4.11 gears and a rear D44. is that possible with a 2010 sport?

anyway welcome to the forum. trust me, after 6 months and a few mods...you'll love that JK

GoundHawg thanks I appreciate the info, I will def go with 35's deep down i wanted them anyway and I think a 3.5 inch lift will enough to clear 35's pretty good even with lots of flex.

3.5 is excellent. usually you see people anywhere from 2.5 - 4". i'm waiting for my 35's to come in. i'm only doing 2.5" of lift. if i rub, i'm just going to chop my stock flares. lots of different options you can go with when fitting 35's on a JK.

I like the engine, no problems so far, runs strong. Gas pedal gets some getting use to, it feels so heavy at first, all in all I like my JK just miss my TJ a lot sometimes.

You DO know, that with less lift than that and a few minor mods you can easily run 37's on a Jk... right?

Well, 35's without gears and axles... but 35's you can do easily enough.

i've seen 38's on a JK w/no lift and flat fenders. 33's you can pull of with wheel spacer and some minor trimming of the front flares.

i'm loving that "low center gravity" look. it's very popular where i live. JK's on 35's and 38's unlifted, even TJ's on 33's without lift. seems to be the thing here.

I had my 06 TJ X for less than 2 years. I recently got an 07 JK Unlimited Rubicon. I think that the things I lost by trading my TJ I more than gained with the Rubi.

The TJ was way easier to run cb wires in. The JK does not have the fuse box behind the glove box and it has the interior panels that were a pita to remove in order to run the antenna cable.

Even with that, I am looking forward to modding my Rubi.

Danimal, I agree I do, I do like mt JK a lot, just something about my TJ that I miss. Like I said, I am not a big fan of the sloped front end, the grill slots aren't as long as they used to be (they are short slots now). The rear tailights are different, they are ok but I prefer the original style better and I wish they would have rounded off the hard top, I dont like that squared look at much as the rouned on the TJ's

I have to agree, including with your hesitation. As far as interior I prefer my jk, but I miss the exterior styling of my TJ

Oh ya the interior is far better, I love the inside, I just prefer the styling of the TJ's outside.
