New 2011 JK Unlimited Owner!

Glad to be here! Had a TJ back in the '90s and couldn't wait to get the 4 door after they came out. Silver Sport S. But, a couple of things that maybe I could get some help with.

Big complaint is the owners "manual". My TJ came with a huge book that told me anything I wanted to know. This has a vague guide and a DVD that would better serve as a frisbee. I downloaded one from the web that is a whole lot more informative.

I got the Dual Top Group and had planned to leave the hard top on for a while. The soft top seems to be installed and the manual I downloaded says I have to remove the hard top to take the soft top off? Is there a way around this?

The TJ came with little amenities like velcro straps to secure the windshield if you folded it. I never did, but it was a nice touch. I haven't found any in the JK so far.

Anyhow, I'm pretty excited and looking forward to getting to know other owners here and learning!

Thanks, Gary

I don't think you can pull the soft top out without removing the hardtop first. Look at getting a hoist if you have a garage, you can easily remove the top with one

I don't know of many people that actually do drop the windshield- more hassle for what it is worth. Not sure on my Jk yet if the side roll bar has to be disconnected from the window first?

Congrats on you new jeep

Ken

Thanks Ken! I don't foresee dropping the windshield either. It was just the attention to detal that they included the strap for it with the TJ.

They say leaving the soft top folded inside the hardtop will cause holes to wear in the soft top. What I did was unbolt the hardtop and have my daughter who was 13 at the time lift it enough so I could slide the soft top out. Took all of 15 minutes to complete.

Congrats on the new Jeep.

Thanks! I'll probably try that suggestion.

Same here. No manual. Downloaded from website. I took the hard top off to get to the soft. Was a little tough installing the soft top for the first time. Top seems to ride a lttle high, not seating flush.
