new bumper air bag question

I know nothing about air bags except if you hit something at a certain speed it goes off. I am going to replace my stock bumper with a jcr vanguard due to arrive tomorrow.

where are the sensors?

My question is do I need to disable my airbags so I dont set them off? If so, how do you do it. Just unhook the battery. Or if the jeep engine is off they wont go off?

Any help appreciated.

Airbags don't work by impact. They used to, know they work with sudden deceleration. You will be fine.

There are no airbag sensors in the bumper. No worries.

What year?

My understanding is that the airbags work of an accelerometer located in the dash (in conjunction with some other sensors). I believe they used to work off sensors in the bumper - but they don't anymore.
