New here , wait for PK or get a JK?

Hey i want to get a wrangler but from what i understand a better engine is coming out for sometime in the near future with not only better milage but a little more power.

Here is the question , what time is the most likely for them do drop this new model (ie fall of 2011 or fall of 2012) , and should i wait it out?

I have always loved the idea of having a jeep , i owned a big landrover for a long time (before they destroyed the branding in america) and i loved taking it on the beach, doors off and roof off .

Get one now and you can always trade it in WHEN the pentastar gets put in the wrangler!

I call "dibs" on the first yellow and black model PK so I can set my son up with one and a vanity license plate that says... "PK-chu"

I know.

LMAO
Bird in the hand...
I'd say get what you can. Drive it. Love it. Learn it.
Then get the PK IF/when they ever launch it.
While it is almost a certainty that it'll happen....the operative word is ALMOST.
If you spend your life WAITING for perfection....There will always be "something better" just around the corner.
....and you just keep waiting.

No one knows when there will be a new engine. It is only specualtion at this point. A new engine doesn't necessarily mean a new model designation. Where did you come up with PK? Only you can decide when or if you want to buy a Jeep. Why don't you go test drive one and decide for yourself?

i did test drive one and thats why im asking , it could really use some extra horsepower. The car feels like its just under what it should be putting out normally.

also pk = pentastar K

Not a car, and its never gonna be a power monster on the pavement, if you want a 0-60 machine that can still go offroad look at a x5 or a lr3 or range rover, if you want an offroad machine buy a jeep friend, read my sig, it pretty much sums it up. Oh did they really rename the body PK?

nobody renamed it but me lol

also im not saying its a huge massive dissapointment , i know the jeep wrangler is not for the race track , its just the impression i got from driving it was that they didnt put the right engine in it for the body size. It felt like the tires were deflated when the light turned green.

but then again i guess that first gear is more for getting out of holes then just moving to gear 2

Logically it should be JP or PJ, as ever soft top body style Jeep since they were first built in 1941, except the original military MB, has had a J in model type,, CJ 1 through 7, DJ 3 through 6, YJ, TJ, JK, and J8(the current military version).

2dr or 4dr, auto or manual. No one complains about the power in a 2dr manual.

And what axle ratio, and what size tires?

I have a 4 door manual with 265 tires, and 3:73 diff, and I complain about the power but it is not real bad.

the manual i drove had its own set of issues aside from being the sloppiest shifting vehicle i have ever driven. But the 4 door auto was what i was talking about.

Really? You have obviously never driven a 1972 VW mini bus with a manual!!! Mine is not that bad. It is not designed to be speed shifted, like a sports car, but better shifting than most manuals I drove back before 1980. Definitely better than my 2001 Chevy Silverado manual.

"Sloppiest shifting?" What does that mean? What other vehicles that you have driven are you comparing it to?

The 2010 JK 6spd (all gears, and 2dr/4dr models) have been one of the easiest sticks I've ever driven.

Anywho, that's off topic.

Apparently you've never driven anything without gear synchronizers....what a stupid comment.
