New Islander

After going back and forth with my dealer I am finally getting the Islander by the end of this week (hopefully). I had wanted my new ride equipped with side airbags but the Sport Unlimited's they found- the dealers weren't willing to trade. My question is this- it will be my DD and family hauler. Will I be happy with the Rubi tires?? I haven't driven one with those tires but have been told their pretty loud and ride a bit more rough. It won't be seeing much off road initially. The dealer said they would swap them out if I didn't like them. I got the silver one, hoping I'm going to like the decals or they will come off real soon.

Thanks again for all the help.

The tires are quiet and the ride is smooth. You can hear them if you're making a hard turn and the windows are down, that's about it really. I've had mine for almost 2 month and love it. Except the $300 deductible I just had to shell out for a new windshield. You'll love it too!.

I love my Islander.....
Silver 6sp..... I think the Decals look best on the silver.....
Mine is a DD as well.... Tires are pretty quiet for what they are ....
Bit of noise around 65mph and up but not really noticeable......
They stop pretty well too from around 40mph (almost cruised through a red light but stopped with some howling before it mattered)

I have driven with both. Stock ATs for 9 months and then in a chrysler buyback I got the rubicon with the MTs. The MTs (mud terrain) are not noticeably more noisy than the ATs. If you look at the tread design on the stock MTs the parts of the tread that contact the road are staggered to reduce noise. More aggressive mud tires generate lots of noise because the spacing between is so far that it creates noise as the tread contacts the surface and I would venture to say vibration as well. If you plan to do some serious off roading in mud conditions, the stock MTs may prove to be inadequate for the job and you may end up selecting something more aggressive. At that point, noise will be less of a concern.
