I currently have a 2000 jeep wrangler tj. And was thinking of getting a 2012 jeep wrangler unlimited,is it worth it are the newer jeeps better just as good ?
That is an impossibly subjective question. I drove a TJ for years before getting a JKU. I like what I drive now and wouldn't go back, but I still have a lot of love for the TJs.
As subsequent posts are going to point out in greater detail, it all depends on your needs and preferences.
Better mileage, better ride on road, more power....more computers, more stuff to break.
I've had both, loved em both. I'd like to have another TJ for a toy, but the JKU is absolutely a better daily driver.
The 2012 was the first year for the Penastar and they had a couple of known issues that year.
1. One of the heads was prone to cracking with a lot of them being replaced under warranty
2. Oil filter assy/oil cooler contraption prone to cracking and or leaking.
I have had both. The JK is a better daily driver in my opinion too. It's smoother and handles better.
The TJ is still awesome though. I would like to get another one someday.
