New Jeep - Help with Wheels/Rims

I'm a new owner of a Black 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited X! It is a soft top with standard Jeep Wrangler rims and wheels. Already installed black Nerf side steps. Now I want to get black rims and larger tires. Looking to get 33"-35" tires with XD811 Rockstar II rims. Any thoughts on those rims? Also, what type of tires does anyone recommend? I plan to mostly to use it on the road (live in South Florida) and would like to start going off road/mudding occasionally at J.W. Corbett Wildlife Management Area. Lastly, I was reading about adding a lift kit, but not sure if A) I have to in order for those tires to fit or B) If I should since mostly going to be on the road. Thanks in advanced for everyone's feedback. Looking forward to learning a lot and reading many forum posts.

welcome to the WranglerForum Tyler.

lots of useful information in this thread ---> JK Tech common questions here!!!!

probably the most relevant to you: 1) newbies guide to lifting... 2) lift reviews, and 3) largest tire...

you can fit 33" tires underneath your new rig without a lift. but you will require properly backspaced wheels (4.5" or less) otherwise your tires will rub.

for mostly DD (daily driving) i would suggest something like a Goodyear DuraTrac, or other all terrain tire. DTs are great tires... if you're really into mudding... well - you might want to consider a mud tire though. DTs aren't great in mud. but they are a good all around tire.

2010 JK - Mountain Edition - SOLD
2016 JKUR - Family Edition

i will spend way too much money on it... that's all

I have 17 inch Rockstar II wheels on 33 inch Duratracs, 2.5 inch lift, very happy with the look. I also got the spacers for the center sections of the rims, but haven't had a chance to install them yet. Congrats on your purchase, mine is almost 1 and I'm still smiling!

Well it took me a little while, but I finally decided on the Rockstar II XD 811 18x9 rims and Nitto Terra Grappler All-Terrain 32.66" tires. Holding on the lift now due to finances and don't want to settle for a cheap budget boost.

I have a 4200 budget for a lift, tired and wheels. I live in phx AZ and own a 2011 2dr jk sport. I was looking over a desert rat. I want to have a noticeable lift. I've been looking at a 2.5 treadles lift with shocks. But I wonder if that is going to make much of a difference. It is my daily driver and I only get to take it out to the desert once or so a month. Wanted to do 15 inch wheels but I don't want to shave down the calipers. So I'm going with 17inch wheels and thinking either 33 or 35s. But I'm new to owning a jeep and have no mechanical skills or knowledge. I'd love to learn if anyone out there wants to teach me. Either way I'm looking for advise on my modification. Thanks jeepers!
