New Jeep owner but big time "Car Guy"

I am pretty excited about our family's new purchase. 2010 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara. Current other cars are 08 C6 Vette, 2010 BMW 328 Coupe, and a 2001 Lexus LS 430. So you can see that our tastes in cars are all over the map. I know very little about off roading. My only concern with the Jeep is the reported lack of power and poor gas mileage. I like to replace the stock paper air filters on my cars with the K&N type filters. Do any of you gear heads have a opinion whether this swap is worth with the 3.8 engine??

Welcome to the forum. There has been some debate as to the real benefits of a K&N being perceived or real and others may chime in. However, like you, I put K&N in everything I own. Usually within the first 200 miles. My 10 Sahara has one and I wouldn't go back to paper. Just my opinion though.

As long as you keep your Jeep on the street the K&N shouldn't be an issue, unless the conditions are very dusty. It will do nothing for power or gas mileage except what you perceive it to be. You're driving a brick on wheels. The sooner you stop being concerned about gpm, the happier you'll be.

x3,,,,,,,,,,, You get what you get. Just enjoy your Jeep. I have a keyfob to a 335i. And since I have had the Jeep. That keyfob sits on the counter.
