New Jeep owner question.

I have a 2010 green jk 4 door that i have been "beefing up". I have installed a 3 inch skyjacker lift, 35 inch tires, black rims with rockcrawler side step on the way. I will post the before and after pics soon. I have two questions. Is PROCAL the way to go and can i really do it myeslf? AND,, this one is driving me crazy and i know some of you will think im nuts but i just gotta know. Does anyone else out there have a problem with thier mirrors leaking out on thier doors for 6 hours after they wash them? The green shows every speck of dirt just like black, i get it all cleaned up and then my mirrors leak for hours. The water has to coming from inside the door on the top. I am afraid if i pull them off and put a silicon bead around them that they will fill up and rust the doors. Anyone ?

Welcome to WF!

Procal is ok. Personally I'm going with a superchip soon. It's up to you. Some like chips, some procal. Personally, I think superchips is a little better. You download a program, plug the controller into the jeep, and upload it. Punch in tire size, gear ratio, etc. That's it! Easier than an oil change.

As for your mirror you aren't crazy. This is a very common JK problem. The gasket over time ends up sealing itself allowing residuel water to drip up to 8 hours after rain or a wash. To fix that, simply drill some holes in the mirror mounting piece. Takes all but 1 minute, and you'll be shocked how much water that thing actually holds when that gasket seals up.

drill here

I'll second and third (for Briana) the Superchips- great product. Noticable fuel economy and power gains, easy to use, and they keep adding cool new features- Mark W.

You're welcome. You won't be let down by the superchips paq either if you decide to go with it. It's slightly more expensive but WELL worth it.

Any questions feel free to ask us. That's why we're here

Yeah. Flares are flares. They're just cosmetic. Running flat ones allows for larger tires without lifting. Comes down to personal taste and how much coinage you have. Just check the laws where you live before you buy. Some states you can't have flat fenders, others the tire must be inside, yadda yadda. Personally I don't like flares. If I didn't drive in PA so much I wouldn't even run any.

Superchips are like $350 give or take. Any 4x4 shop should carry them. Sometimes there are used ones on eBay and shit. Um, 4wd.com and quadratec have them to buy online. They take like 10 minutes to install. You just download stuff to the controller and punch in your tire size, gearing, etc. Plug it into that port under your dash and that's it. A computer literate 8 year old can tune the engine with it

they do all kinds of things. Manipulate transmission shift points in automatics, alter fuel/ratios in the engine, change timing, correct speedometers when you upgrade tires, change crawl ratios, ghetto lockers, and improved throttle response and MPG. there's always new stuff to download too.

I dont plan doing much "hardcore" 4wheeling, they will be just for looks mostly. right now my tires are throwing mud up on the side of my jeep b/c the tires stick out 2 inches. I think that the bushwackers should put a stop to this. "and i think they look cool" =) Jimbox, got any pics ?

Throwing mud on the side of your Jeep is a bad thing? Why would you want to stop that!?

You've gotta be ready for any damage off-road and they are expensive, I got mine from 4wd.com and I don't know about Arkansas

Figure at least $700 bucks unless you can get a deal onem, mine were $600 bucks a year ago, they will keep all that crap off the sides of the jeep and I wanted my tires pretty close to even with the fender edge and I've two sets of tires on proComp 8089's, so I wasn't about to change the wheels for less Back space to accomplish the same as adapters/spacers (I have Spidertrax)

They keep snow off too

They can be cut inside for tire clearance to, even though they're a little involved assembling and installing

Good luck

If I had to guess, I would think "pocket" because they go out and down on an angle encasing the tire like a "pocket" as compared to the straight out ones???

hey, it sounds reasonable...
