New JK doors hard to close!

I apologize in advance if this is already a topic on here. But I have had my JK for 3 months now and I cannot give anyone a ride without having to ask them to close their door again, as the first time didn't have enough force. I really don't care about this and I am glad my Wrangler is solid, but I am wondering if this will get worked in a bit. The dealer told me after a while the doors will become easier to shut. Personally, I have no problem getting them to close but like I said everyone I give a ride cannot seem to shut them haha

It's the norm, everyone has it to some degree.

It's a matter of pushing them firmly shut and not "slamming" them. If you push them and follow thru you can shut them from 3-4 inches away.

Sissies*

Happens to me every day. Girlfriend has to shut the door twice. When I exit the Jeep I make sure her door is closed before mine; it is much easier that way.

Haha its funny because all of my friends are big boys who bounce and power lift yet they can't shut my door without two tries.

And yes I have a hardtop as well it must be a tight seal, my girlfriend can never get it closed without two tries

I just follow through and hold on to the handle until it is closed, works every time. Glad to hear I am not the only owner who's experienced this.

You need to turn off "submarine mode" (on the EVIC).

All new vehicles have the same problem roll the window down 2-3 " lets the air out of the cab its called air tight vehicle. I see the same thing on new big rigs too , window down does the trick.

Yep, well trodden topic. Push firmly, or as others have suggested with a bunch of passengers getting into your Jeep, it's sometimes easiest to roll your drivers window down a bit to ease the closing of all the other doors.

My biggest issue is forgetting that a door is open elsewhere on the Jeep, and still firmly shutting the door unnecessarily.

My jeep is almost 2 yrs old and I still have to remind people to shut the doors harder than what they are used to doing. No biggie since you get used to having to tell people.

The rubber seals are very thick and probably designed to keep water from coming in the doors when your going through deep water.

Just wait till you put your soft top on.

Everyone that gets into you Jeep will slam the door shut.

if you are running the hardtop with full doors this is completely normal. A tight seal is a good thing.

I was having the same issue. I put new door bushings in and my doors close with ease. My bushings were shot and my doors sagged just enough to make it a PITA to close them.

Here's the bushings I used. Jeep Co-Op

Mine do the same thing with the soft top - maybe not quite so bad, but enough that anyone not familiar with it triggers a door ajar message. That sucker fits tight. The only way to get them to close easily is to crack a window.

I too have had my wife say the door is hard to shut so good to hear that it is a common issue. Im fine with it as it feels solid.

You'll get use to it. There's not a lot of weight with these doors like other cars and trucks. First week of ownership I probably had to do it twice every time I close the door.

If it's a women just say "All Men are Evil" right as she is closing it.

Works every time.

Otherwise, get in the habit of dropping your window an inch as the doors get closed, that works too.

This. The doors are relatively light compared to conventional car doors, so momentum alone may not shut them.

The door seals break-in too. On my second JK I had forgotten all about this phenomenon.
