New JKU Fuel Tank Question

Hello all,

I apologize if this question has been asked before, but I was unsuccessful in finding it in the search. I recently bought a new 2014 JKU. I went to fill up the tank after running it down to within 15 miles to empty per the display and was only able to put in 17 gallons of gas. According to the manual the capacilty is 22.5 gallons. While I appreciate that having a bit more beyond the "empty" point makes sense, over 5 gallons seems a bit excessive.

Is this normal or do I have a problem which needs to be looked into? It would be nice to know if I have additional range in an emergency.

Thanks

Chrysler reports an "approximate" 2 gal. reserve. Approximate is the key word. Most experience a 2-4 gal. reserve. The computer isn't totally accurate at times either. The only thing you should do is try not to let it get that low.

Thanks Kik,

I checked with another JKU owner at work who has encountered almost the exact same fill levels. Looks like it is normal.

I read that it's better to keep it above 1/4 tank. Supposed make the fuel pump last longer if it's always submerged.
