Nice looking set up. What brand is that snorkel? Did you have to do any cutting or did it replace that whole panel? I'm not too far from you. I'm located up in Enterprise, Al. Just traded my TJ in for a JKU and I'm loving it so far.

It's the rugged ridge XHD snorkel. It has two snorkel tips; a low mount and the traditional high mount. You remove the passenger fender to route the new lower air box and tubes. The top rear of the fender, where the cowl meets the fender.... That's where you trim. Drill out the spot welds, remove the cowl, trim a piece of metal that's 1 1/2 X 6 roughly. Silicone and clamp all the connection points and reinstall the fender. Not difficult if your mechanically inclined. If you get the snorkel or any other parts I'll be happy to help you install them. Come on down.

Thats a bummer on the snorkel. I thought it was a legit no cutting fit. Any good wheeling down that way?

It's minor cutting. The kit comes with a bracket to put it back to stock. You'd never know it was there. As far as wheeling, most go to Eglin. I've only had my JKU a little over a month now.

Not sure how long a haul it would be for you, but you might want to check out HardRock ORV park and the Withlacoochee National Park. They are in/near Ocala. In October they also have Jeep-Tober-Fest in Ocala. I've heard it's a great festival.

Sorry for hijacking.

Thanks for the info. It's not hijacking, without others sharing their info I'd be lost. So far I've been limited to the random lot clearings that has some nice mud holes before it's graded.

Ordered the A pillar 4-switch trim panel, a dual battery tray, 2 red top optimas, and a superwinch. Will post pics after install. Next week I'm ordering fender flares...
Lol should I get pocket bushwackers or flats? Plastic or metal?

Geaux...you are really inspiring me. I'm not a mechanic and do not have access to a lift but a buddy or two may have one or access. Love the work you've done. The lift, wheels, rims took that beast to a whole new level.

I'm going to go back and review your choices for lift, tires, and wheels. Can I ask how the ride is during normal city highway driving and how has your gas mileage changed?

Metal. My last 2 trips out 2 different people had new bushwhacker flats and bent them bumping trees on the trail. One almost ripped his front totally off. The other was a jku with a tight turn and just bumped a small tree and it bent the flare up.

The ride is better than stock. I have driven about 4000 miles in the last 2 months commuting between Pensacola and Biloxi. Stops fine, cruises normal and handles better than u thought a lifted jeep could. Last week a big rig lost a tire in front of me. I did an evasive maneuver and the jeep did exactly what I asked it to do. I had been fearing how it would react. Now, it's a dog merging into traffic. I have 3.23 gears and it's getting old. I will do 4.10s and lockers next March. Gas mileage sucks. I'm guessing 15mpg but love the jeep to much to do the math. My beautiful wife doesn't care because it's paid for... Her logic is with no car payment we can afford the extra gas..... Yes dear. Anyway, yes it's affected my gas mileage but it wasn't stellar to begin with. I just can't wait until I'm done commuting in September.

I'm looking at the xdc fenders or a fee of the tube styles.

Here's pics of my current look. Winch still needs to be rewound and hook installed. Seats will get headrests installed next month after covers stretch and settle. Finally the dual battery tray and A-pillar switch pod installed easily.

Cancelled my Tuffy deck and ordered the Aries rear enclosure. Tuffy just was taking way too long so Aries gets my business.

Now my wife is trying to convince me to do the Hemi conversion..... Lol

First off i have to say your rig looks fantastic!

i have been looking at the same Kenwood head unit (DDX470) you have listed. Crutchfield shows that unit as "Modified fit" did you run into any issues getting it installed?

I did remove the metal bracket at the rear of the dash. Very simple and plenty of room for a dremel or hack saw. I also moved the grommet that sticks down from the top of the dash. I have an amp and rear camera installed so lots of extra wires. I use the usb port exclusively, so if you will be the same I would recommend getting the 770 model that moves the CD slot behind the screen. More touch screen real estate. I love the head unit and it sounds awesome with doors off and top down. It also is bright even in direct sunlight.

Thanks. I have to get pics of my Trek armor seat covers, the Aries rear security deck and the Teraflex big rotor kit, I've installed. Oh and all this weight has made the lift squat a bit so some 2" pucks for all four corners are in order.

I would look for the same issues all jeeps may have. Abuse, water damage, neglect etc. I bought mine from a lady. she was only owner and only used 4wd to keep it working. It had 63,000 miles and I got it for 18,000 cash. I was nervous because of the limited amount the transfer case was engaged due to her not off roading.
So far it's been perfect. I got a basic X model, even installed OEM cruise control myself. Just treat it like any other vehicle. Look under it and make sure there's no leaks etc. When this motor go's, i'm installing a hemi. Good luck with joining the family.

4wheelparts.com. Now the shippers may have rewrapped and stacked them on the pallet, because when I took the black wrapping off.. They were individually wrapped and each secured to the pallet.
