New JKUR order, what to mod first?!

I have a 2014 JKUR on-order and am driving myself nuts trying to decide what to mod first!

I will be paying a hefty down payment (~$7k, my life savings) to try to lower the payments, so I will be pretty strapped for cash.

The Warn Elite Series front and rear bumpers look pretty rad though, and those factory bumpers are hideous! I might be sold on that mod first, unless anyone can convince me otherwise? (:

The bumpers were definitely first on my list, too, when I was shopping for a Wrangler. But then I ended up getting an Call of Duty so they were already awesome. Had I gone with a stock Wrangler I would have swapped them for something else immediately!

Ordered my 2014 JKUR yesterday.

My short list for day one includes Husky Floor Liners, stubby antenna from AntennaX, Fire Extinguisher, Quadratec hitch combo and CB install.

Pretty quickly after that I thinking real seriously about doing some armor first before lift/tires. This time around looking at the Rock Hard 4x4 engine and transfer case skids, as well as their tube style rocker skids.

Also thinking about doing the front knuckle gussets sooner rather than later.

Still working out the direction I want to go on lift/tires/wheels. Leaning towards the new Mickey Thompson ATZ P3 tires in a 315 on AEV Pintler wheels. To clear them I'm thinking the ARB Edition of MetalCloaks Dual Rate 2.5" kit. And pretty sure I'll carry that extra tire weight around on back with the Teraflex hinged tire carrier combo.

Then after that, I really like some of the Poison Spyder bumpers and Warn winch. JL Audio update of the stereo system and a nice sounding Flowmaster exhaust.

Now, being realistic I'll be lucky if my actual fundage gets me past that first paragraph or two. LOL

Just got a JKU Sport S and here is what I ordered:

Ace rock sliders
ACE Mid-Width bumper with Bull Bar and Light holes
ACE Rear bumper with Carrier
Rock Krawler 2.5” Flex System
Rock Krawler 1” front and rear bump stops
Rock Krawler front spring clips
FOX IFP Shocks
TeraFlex Exhaust Spacers
Quadratec floor liners
Safari mirrors
Hi-Lift Jack

Tried to start slow but got carried away.

What's better than the stock rear view mirror? Link me!

Thanks! I live relatively close (2 hours) from Joshua Tree. It's a photo of the arch rock there. That's the best I can get until I make a trek out to Arches NP in Utah next year!

Haha! Sounds epic, but this is more of a wish list for a lifetime build for me, lol. I'll be lucky if I can swing the mopar gas door when I take delivery!

COStrider means rotate the rear view mirror 180 degrees for a better field of view.

The first things I replaced was the antenna and headlights. Unless they made changes to the headlights from 2013 to 2014 thats what I would do.

The JK is awesome! The headlights are a few generations behind.

The rear view mirror mod is just spinning the mirror upside down then tilting it up. It provides better field of vision both forward and backwards. Kind of tricky to do but be patient, its the best bang for the buck mod I know of (thanks to the forum)! Sorry I couldn't find a quick link for ya.

I would also recommend ordering the Jeep with only a hardtop and getting a Bestop NX Trex top due to its versatile nature: soft top (no frame), sun rider, safari top all in one!!!

Look at:

-LoD bumpers
-Weather Tech floor mats
-Pull the carpet bc sounds like you are in the desert and you'll lose the vacuum battle against sand day one IMHO
-nemesis engineering rock sliders bc they are the strongest, lightest, baddest ones I could find and with door off I want added structural rigidity WITH a crumple zone
-AEV dual sport 3.5" lift with bilstein 5160's bc it's the best riding lift I ever had over any brand I've had (Teraflex, rubicon express, rough country, leveling kits, etc) if you want the best overall ride. If you only wheel I like Teraflex
-some bright lights that tie in with you high beans for night visibility PIAA are my choice

If you don't lift right away replace the steering stabilizer with a high mount once you crush it wheeling- old man emu (which comes with the AEV, so don't buy it unless you are still holding off on a lift) makes a shock and relocation bracket combo (quadratrc)

Anyway there's some of what I've done. Take your time looking and do lots of research. I waited till 20,000 to do any major mods once I realized what I wanted to do with my JKUR based on my past experience and real world use of the rig.

Also check best free mods, best cheap mods, free mods, etc on here by searching and try google searches too

You are going to love the Jeep

Awesome info, COStrider, but I'm still unsure this mirror flip will work on a 2013/14... I'll research further later.

I'll definitely be struggling to stack chips to do the lift/wheels/tires. Knowing my mentality, it probably won't happen until the stock rubber hits the legal tread limit (unless it's winter).

I like the look of the Warn Elite bumper, but I'm not sure why I would want a stubby/mid/full-width bumper or why it matters.

Thanks for the info on the AEV lifts. I was sold on TeraFlex, but this JKUR will be my daily driver too, so I want a smooth but capable ride for that.

Awesome info, keep it coming!!

NICE! Now keep in mind our new 14's have not *one* but *two* hooks on the front floor mat. I've been holding off on ordering mats because of this...
