New owner 2011 sahara unlimited

Hello all !
Just got my 2011 wrangler sahara with dual top in bright white. This is my second wrangler(had a 90 islander). It came with both tops on it, and I wanted to know if I have to remove the hard top completely to take the soft top off the car so I can use the storage area? The soft top is obviously folded down, but it does not seem to be bolted in to anything? My other question is, how heavy is the back portion of the freedom top? Can I lift this myself or do I need a second person? Thanks Dan

2 door or 4 door. the 4 door rear section of hard top most def needs 2 people. the 2 door, well its pretty tricky to do alone, carrying it on your back walking off the tailgate area. i never had a softop, but everything ive ever read says you need to remove the hardtop in order to remove it properly.

Nice jeep! I like the white hard top on a sahara. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "it came with both tops on it"? Obviously the hard top is ON but is the soft top out of the box or is it folded down like it would be if it were actually ON? It would be really helpful if you posted a picture

As for removing the back part of the freedom top, it is pretty heavy and unless you are sure you can lift it, I would get a 2nd person. IMO I would get another person just to be on the safe side

the soft top comes folded and wrapped up in rear, yes the whole hard top must come off (all 3 parts) to remove the soft top. or you could remove hard top and just be ready for the soft top season. fyi there is a thread about how to build your own hard top cart for $20-25, and a 40 minutes of time and it works great.

I got mine in February and had the soft top folded up under the hard top. Left it that way till yesterday when I finally removed the hard top. It def takes two people because of the size and how awkward it is to move around. I did it with my 11 year old son. Its not heavy but awkward. It's warm out, take the hard top off and store it for the summer.

Have fun!

Thank you to all for your replies. You have been most helpful! I think I will make the cart and then remove the hard top for the summer! Should be fun! Thanks again Dan

Have a 2011 Sahara Unlimited with both tops. Took the hard top off yesterday, and YES you will need 2 people for the back section. Putting up the soft top for the first time is a bit of an adventure, especially if you've never done it before. Jeep doesn't seem to have any instructions for this and I finished with extra parts. Came on the forum and found out where all the missing parts go - THANK YOU EVERYONE!
