New Paint Job

I'm thinking about repainting my Jeep and my father used to own a body shop so we have allot of the older style equipment, but he hasn't used the new styles of paint. if I wanted to repaint my Jeep in a metallic gloss black with certain parts a glossy metallic royal blue, about how much paint would I need? Would one gallon of the blue and one of black and one gallon of clear coat be enough or would I need to get more or something else? Also what type of paint, acrylic or something else? If anyone has repainted their vehicles and has some pointers that would be great. Thank You.
