NEW Product Review: Black Box Logistics 5” RX Series 60W LED Light (pair)

Black Box Logistics 5” RX Series 60W LED Light (pair)
I received my pair of LED lights via UPS. They were packaged securely. Upon opening each light’s individual box, the following contents were removed:
· 5” 60W LED Light
· U-shaped Light Bracket
· Plastic bag containing 19mm hex bolt with “nyloc” nut for securing the U-bracket, and two allen head bolts for securing the Light to the U-bracket.
Attachment 228848

I had already secured the primary mounts, a pair of Off Camber Fabrications Windshield Light Brackets (purchased from Quadratec) to my A-pillars. These are typical A-pillar brackets and were quite suitable for this particular application. I had also done the preliminary installation of the wire harness (purchased from Black Box Logistics).

Installation was very simple. The only problem that I encountered was something that I had already anticipated, having previously purchased from Black Box Logistics. The hardware used is often quite large. The 19mm bolt definitely falls into this range. I’m not complaining. I’m simply pointing this out to potential buyers. As stated, the bolt and nut are large (very beefy), necessitating the drilling of my Off Camber Fabrications light brackets. This is a very easy fix, and I did this while they were already mounted to the A-pillars.
Attachment 228849
Attachment 228850

Pros:
· These things are BIG! They are NOT tiny cubes that you hardly notice. They actually look like they belong on the A-pillars. *Cue the Tim Allen sound bite*
· They throw a LOT of light! I mounted these to compliment my hood mounted 20" DRX Series LED Light Bar, also from Black Box Logistics. These are easily a “stand alone” set of lights. When paired with the 20” light bar, it’s like turning on the stadium lights!
· Price!!! At $189.99, a PAIR of these is the same price as ONE Rigid Industries Dually D2.
Cons:
· I had to drill my A-pillar bracket. I know that I said that it really wasn’t a big deal, but I had to have something negative to say or else you might think that I was not being objective in my review.
I shot a few pictures to give you an idea of what these lights can do. As you know, pictures often don’t show the true scope of a given situation. However, I do think that these will give you some hint of how much light they produce.

Great write up! Lights look great but being a tradition kind of guy, I will stick with my Round Hella lights.

Nice review! I was planning on getting a pair of dually spot and a pair of dually flood (total of 4 lights), but then I saw these and had to swap. Hoping to get them ordered soon!

Quick request! Can you get a shot with just the 5" lights and no headlights or 20".

How can you go wrong with a Warn? I've yet to be in a position to need it. But, I'd rather have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it!

Just in case you need another reason to like the lights (tell your wife that I'm sorry), Black Box Logistics is having a 10% Off sale on all orders of $150 or more this weekend using promo code: SPRINGFLING

I was about to pull the trigger on the 3" ones from them about a week ago. Now decisions decisions. I might order them both now and have the smaller ones mounted above the tail lights as rear facing spots and mount these on the pillars

Nice write-up.

I like these and they look right at home on the A pillar. How many lumens are we talking with these?

Update to my earlier post:

I checked the Product Page of BBL and found out they're a whopping 4,800 lumens each!

Do want.

I'm thinking about doing the same with the small set. They should be excellent as reverse lights!

Is the wiring harness necessary for both installations?

I see these say spot beam (10 deg) pattern but it looks like quite a bit of glare on your hood. Also, tried to order a set with the SPRINGFLING code and it wouldn't allow it.

As requested, 5" 60W LED ONLY...all other lights are OFF. As you can tell, these things are pretty ridiculous

Yup i saw that too and had to email them about it. Most companies say the lumens but when it's a pair whatever the number is, is for both combined, so when they said no, it's 4800 each for a whopping 9600 lumens!!!! All I could think was I want!!!! I need!!!!! Lol

I used one wire harness for the pair of 5" LEDs on the A-pillars, and a second wire harness for the 20" Light Bar on my hood. I am definitely NOT an electrician, and it was very easy to tie the pair of 5" together for one harness and a single switch.

Straight up honest, the glare that you see in the picture is NOTHING! Check out the latest pic that I posted of just the 5" LEDs with no other lights.

I posted on their FB page and I think they took care of it. Actually I'm debating between these and another set of lights I have been waiting to get a hold of, they are even more insane (6000 lumens each), are very well built, but cost a good deal more too.

Excellent! I'm glad that they were able to fix the problem.
You know, if you're looking for more lumens from your lights, they do have some pretty great light bars! I love my 20" And, I really don't know of anyone that can touch their prices. They really give you a lot of bang for your buck. Whatever you decide to get, remember...PICTURES!

Not a silly question! Wiring these is very simple, and you should have no problem wiring to an SPOD
