New rear license plate mod

I was tired of the one sided screws that held in the rear plate to the frame. I decided to get a stainless plate fasterner kit and mod it so I could have all 4 screws in place to hold the frame. I also wanted an outer plate cover.

I started by removing the plastic bracket and drill holes into the plug side with no holes. I then took the receiver ends of the stainless kit and sliced off one edge. I then sliced up a flat spot on the plastic frame to allow the receiver to lay flush on the frame and have a flat sided edge to interlock so when I tightened the bolt, it would not slip:

Once those were set I simply put it back together and added the 4 screws. The kit had 4 different sizes of bolts. 2 short ones went on the right and 2 long ones on the left. Now they all match and it looks so much cleaner.

Looks Good this bothers me as well so it looks like something i will do. I was worried with how deep the screws would go. Maybe this will be a solution

The purpose is I am an anal mofo.

Besides that I just hated the stock screws that were on it. I yanked the stealership advert plate frame instantly and just wanted a plain black one. The screws eventually rust and look like crap. Plus they are just plain ugly.

The kit had nice short screws that when completely tightened did not touch the tub. So the screws don't come into contact with the paint.

Oh and while I was at it, I replaced the front bolts and also pulled the Sahara silver appliques from both bumpers.

I just used rustoleum and painted my screws black. the posts on the back fram are stupid but I was also worried about screwing through the plate holder into the tub.

You did a great job and I would like to do the same to mine - but - from the pix I can't tell exactly what you're working with. Maybe if I had the kit you refer to in my hands it would be clear. Can you help with info on where to buy this kit and perhaps a part number and/or any other identifying information?

I got tired of my plastic license plate frame sticking out asking to get knocked off and the screws that hold the frame on the Jeep kept coming loose. The last time that I tightened up the frame, the only thing holding my license plate on my Jeep was the electric wiring for the light.

I decided to move my license plate this past weekend after tightening the license plate frame screws for the last time.
