new rims and tires

i own a 2012 wrangler sport. bought it with the 16inch steel rims and small a$$ tires. plan on in a few weeks upgrading to 17inch rims, but dont know what tire size will fit, not ready for a lift just yet. but could use some opinions. thanks

Welcome to the forum. Here is a thread you might find helpful:
Largest tire on stock JK? Here's your answer!

Also, might want to reconsider the 17" wheels. Those wheels and tires can add up in cost real quick. You can generally get a 15" setup (wheels AND tires) for cheaper than you can get 17" tires alone. Even some 16" setups can be had for very similar cash as just the 17" tires.

Like 4fit said, you'll get killed on 17" tires. I'm running 16" wheels only because the tires I wanted aren't made in a 15" size.

Even with 16's, I save a few hundred dollars from what I would've spent on 17's.
