New SunRider OEM Softop , just got her!!!

Now the question is...............

Do I install it or sell it?

For a 2010 JK 2 door full doors. I think it has the clear windows, but havnt really checked it yet.

I think these are $1450.00 new OEM at the Mopar store.

I guess I will wait a while, maybe read the soft top installs. And check for room in the garage to store the hard top. Right now its full with a car, jeep and zx14.

So we shall seeeeeeeeeeeee.

Keep the soft top, sell the hard top. Can you even get rid of either with a leased vehicle?

Store the hard top. Run the soft top and keep it for your new Jeep in 3 years or sell it when you turn gay and get the GC.

SRT8's are the most fun to drive.... I'd have gotten one instead of the TJ, but hubby didn't like it nearly as much as I.... or the price tag...

Keep the top, use it, sell it when you turn in the lease....

@ silvrevo,

I just followed your link to check out your listing. I figured you might want an outsiders review. The top is well illustrated. The description looks complete. There is not much room for confusion about what vehicle it is for or what it should fit. If I had a 2 door jeep and was in the market, that listing would peak my interest. Good luck on the sale of your top.

On a side note, it does continually amaze me to see the breath and depth of various options and people's opinions about what they will get for their jeeps. In my opinion it is one of the things that makes owning one such a special experience. Owning one wouldn't be the same if every jeep were the same. Happy modding.

Yeap JK,, we all have seperate realities. We are all more different than snowflakes. So with that in mind, nothing should amaze you, nor should you get mad at anyones ideas of thoughts.

I have been over the soft or hard top 400 times before I got the Jeep.

I was first thinking soft top on a purchase, to keep price down. But always liked the look of the hard top. I ended up with a hard top on a lease,,,,,lolol.

With the soft top you get a great looking jeep top down.

You also get the sun beating down on you. 90+ degree days with dew points in the 70's. Not fun.

Also if you stop somehwere with the top down, anyone can mess with your Jeep.

Even with it up, they can steal the windows or break in by unzipping them.

You have to have a space to store the hard top. Currently my garage is full. And I like a nice clean garage space.

Plus now I have the mesh top on the hard top , and its pretty nice. Im happy with it.

And I like AC, rather than the sun and heat beating on me.

Dont get me wrong , I will miss out on the open soft top,, but I had a dedicated 1992 4.0 half doors soft top before. And I put that F'ing thing on and off about 200 times. Some in down pours.

So we see how this goes. I also have it in the local paper for 2 weeks.

So dont be supprised if I have it installed too in the next few months if it dosnt sell.

We see how it shakes out, and thats ok with me. But as of now, its for sale. If I get close to what I want for it, its gone. Have to have the right buyer in the market at the right time. All about timing.

Happy Friday too!

^^ Yah, I hear ya.

I am a people watcher and I enjoy doing it. I enjoy diversity. The thing that amazed me is the huge diversity among jeepers. I didn't really realize it until I got one. It has been a pleasant surprise. I even get a kick out of the jeepers that chrome it up or make low riders out of them. Gulp. I wouldn't do it to my own jeep but it has been fun watching what others do to theirs in that aspect of ownership.

Happy Friday to you too!

Your MSRP is way off and your shipping is even crazier. No one is going to buy a soft top from a Jeep dealer. You need to compare prices to Quadratec and 4 Wheel Parts.

That's a conservative number.

You're not considering how easy the tops are now. I had a 1980 CJ7. That top was a PITA. You had to completely remove it and it wasn't practical to bring with you. A bikini top was a must to offer at least some protection for sudden storms.

Today's tops fold down and come with you. They are much thicker than the old days, offering better protection from the extreme temperatures as well as noise. I have actually used the AC once or twice, during storms as I recall.

I wouldn't own a Jeep without a soft top.

@daggo

Your arguments for keeping the top are pretty convincing. Maybe sway him yet....depending on his sell price! He may have to "sit on it for a while" or better yet get that puppy out of the box and use it. I've been enjoying the exchange. May help others reading this thread to determine if they want one. Good stuff.

My OEM softtop has been on craigslist for 3 weeks . If it doesn't sell by Monday, I'm putting it on and enjoying it!
