New tires and wheels...

I'm contemplating putting Nitto Terra Grapplers p265/70R17's on my JK to replace my stocks. How drastic will these affect my mpg? And will going with the 16's be better?

Wheel size won't have that much effect, what you loose in wheel weight you make up in tire weight. Idk, you might loose 1-3mpgs.

Weight is a very big part but width has effect to because there is more surface area on the road and the more the surface area the more resistance. For the most part a 295/70/17 is actually a quarter inch taller then a 33X12.50 but is .9 inch more narrow and the 295 will in general give you better gas mileage in the same brand tire. Some brands weigh more then others and can change that outcome.

I've rad a lot that the Nitto's don't last very long. So I'll have to rethink this. Almost everywhere I've read the BFG's AT KO are very good and long lasting. A lot of good reviews. Hmm, gonna have to take my time on this it seems.
