Stick with the soft unless you want hard for winter...easier to get into back in winter with hard top

Welcome. It's a whole different world when you're behind the wheel of a Jeep.

welcome to wf.

stick with the soft top because you'll want to remove it for summer all the time and the hardtop is bulky, a pia to remove unless you install a cool cable harness lift, and is harder to store than a soft top. get the hard top when winter starts to peak in.

where are the pics of your jeep?

I run a soft top year-round, even though I live in Wisconsin. And there are peeps in Florida who own nothing but the hard top. Neither way is wrong. And if one was, it would be the fools with only the hard tops.

Now that we got that outta the way, some things to think about:

The soft top, obviously, will let your Jeep be a Jeep. Nothing better than rolling with top/doors off, IMO. That said, the soft tops are easy prey for scumbags looking to steal pocket change outta your cup holders, so never leave anything of value in your Jeep unless you've got a good way to secure it (Tuffy concealed carry box, etc). And even then, don't leave stuff in there too long.

So an advantage for the hard top is security.

Some folks buy both. If you've got ample space to store the hard top, or don't mind buying and installing a hoist (Racor makes a good one) in your garage, you'll have no problems swapping out when you want to. Although, to run the hard top, you gotta remove the soft top completely...hardware and all. Gets to be a pain. If I was a Floridian, like you, I'd be all ragtop, all the time.

Oh wait, I am all ragtop. Hmmm.

Another consideration is cost. Hardtops ain't cheap. So unless you REALLY think you want one, might be better off putting your $$ into something else.

Welcome to WF!

Hard tops are a pain in the butt to transport.. if you don't have a garage.

I have to lug my hard top up 3 flights of stairs every summer since I live in an apartment.

Soft top: easily cuttable and i assume they get pretty noisy at high speeds.. but they are easier to remove and in my opinion, i think Jeeps with soft tops look better.

Welcome. I wouldn't worry about a hard top just yet. I got my jeep w/ soft top last May and I was figuring on going thru one winter before deciding on a hard top. Since we didn't have a winter this year it should be this time next year before I decide about a hard top.

I don't expect I will ever want one... unless all other mods are checked off the list.
