Question New (used JK) how can I tell if gears are modified?

Hello all...newbie JK owner here....

Just got a used 07 Unlimited Sahara from a dealer and it is lifted with 33" tires (don't know what size lift) and I am thinking here, have the gears been modified? How could I tell if the gears have been changed or not? How can I tell the size of lift? Anyhow, just curious if there is a way to check if the gears have been changed.

Thanks and I am sure I will be checking this board often for ideas and answers!

MM

Take a pic and post it up. We can tell by pics how much lift it has.

I doubt the gears were changed for 33's, but you'll have to jack the jeep up and count driveshaft rotations for every 1 tire revolution. Example: 4 turns is 4.10...almost 5 turns is 4.88...almost 4 turns is 3.73, get it? lol

Congrats and welcome to WF

jks come stock with 32's, so 33's aren't going to make much of a difference.
there are gear ratio calculators all over the net. just google "gear ratio calculators". you'll need to know your metric tire specs, rpm at x mph and the transmission top gear ratio. this will get you damn close on the ratio you have.

Here is a pic of the new (used) JK I just bought. Tee tires area actually 35's and not 33's as I posted earlier.

Thanks....was looking for a couple of months..almost pulled the trigger on a "stock" JK, but saw this one with Body Armor front/rear bumper, swing gate, cage and basket with the Mickey Thompson 35's and couldn't add this stuff on the stock with what I paid for this. Plus it was the Rescue Green we wanted!
