New Wheels for Billet JKU - Suggestions?

I recently installed my RK 2.5 Max Travel system lift and when funds allow I will be getting new wheels. I was looking for some suggestions for my rig based upon the color and such. Here is some info to help:

  • I have a '13 JKU in Billet Silver with a 2.5" lift. I will most likely be running some 35s on it.
  • I will be sticking with 17" wheels.
  • They may need to be 4.5' backspacing or close to it.
  • I don't want real shiny or chrome wheels
  • Will be sticking with aluminum/alloy, so no steel wheels
  • I like the black wheels, but wonder if they would need some hint of silver to accent them.
  • Price range needs to be less than $200/wheel
  • Not necessary, but the teflon wheels caught my attention since I read that they were easy to clean.

Please be specific on any suggestions or recommendations. Also, links or pics would be helpful as well.

Thanks!

I really like the gunmetal Drakon's from Rugged Ridge - just released a few months ago. I'm going with these if I trade-up for a new Billet. They have black too.

You can find them for right around $200 ea if you look around.

Are the black wheels very hard to clean?

Some wheels I have thought about:

  1. Rugged Ridge satin black with rim protector in a silver/billet color. Amazon has them on sale for $191/wheel
  2. Mickey Thompson Classic Baja Lock (see pic)
  3. What all Teflon black model do you know of? I've heard they are easy to clean.
Thanks.

Rugged Ridge 17" wheels (without protector plate installed) with 35" DuraTracs. We are planning to paint the protector plate blue to match the grill insert and SpiderWebShade. We also plastidipped the center cap black. It was too shiny chrome.

Are the black wheels hard to clean?

Are the Rugged Ridge wheels finish ok? In other words is it durable, does it scratch easy, etc.?

Thanks.

My AEV Savegre have been great. Easy to clean, simple lines and I only use water and a towel to wipe off.

I'm a fan of the black wheels on a silver vehicle. The level 8 Guardians would look great and they inexpensive.

Those RR Drakons look like a mix between the Sahara wheels and new rubicon wheels.

I like these wheels a lot. They are $225 so a little over your price range but they are made for the Jeep and I do not like aftermarket wheels usually in a vehicle but these as close to manufacture specs as you can get. AEV Sevegre. A lot of aftermarket wheels do not make vehicles ride true.

You have the same idea I had. I wanted black with a hint of silver, so I ended up going with the MB chaos 5.

i've owned 2 sets of teflon wheels. the ones i currently have on my jeep are ok to clean. teflon doesnt really do much in aiding he cleaning, its basically like cleaning any other wheel. my titan had teflon but the wheel design was a b*tch to clean eveytime i took it off road. attached pix just for reference

Been a lurker here for a while now. Thought I'd post a shot of what I just put on my 2013 billet.

Black Rock Vipers in tungsten with 285/70/17 duratracs.

I run with 16" ATX Mojaves and I'm thrilled with them so far... The teflon coating is great. I really like that snow doesn't stick on them. They're really easy to clean-mud, salt, haven't had anything that a hose couldn't get off.

I picked them up on super-sale online for just about $100 each. The teflon makes them a blue-ish grey, so I think it goes well with the billet color.

Good luck with your choice.

Nice wheels! The sub $200 a wheel knocks a lot of these out though. For that price range, we do a lot of the Level 8's, XD Wheels, and MB Wheels. Our free mounting, balancing, and shipping program helps too!

Matt, I will shoot you some ideas!

I also wanted black with a hint of siver. This pic shows the difference with stock and what I decided. Brand is Ultra, and I got all five for $705 shipped.

I was between Method wheels and Black Rhino and chose Black Rhino. I haven't mounted them on my Jeep yet so here is a picture of it on another Jeep on google. I actually just posted this pic on another thread a minute ago for black wheels on a white Jeep. I also bought 17" with 4.5" backspacing about 140-150 a wheel or something like that. (It was a package deal I can't remember)
