New Wheels with Stock Tires?

I have a stock Silver 2010 JKU w/ "S" package that is primarily a weekend kid hauler, but sees fire trail and beach / sand driving a few times a year.

I do not currently have an interest in a lift or a change in tires that would compromise the ride on the street, but have been thinking about changing the look with some new wheels (everyone in town has a JKU now). I narrowed it down to the Method Race "Standard" in black -- Products – Street Wheels « Method Race Wheels

I have seen pictrues of these on JKUs (and like it), but never with the stock tires. Anybody have pictures of aftermarket wheels and stock rubber? I am concerned that it might look stupid. Based on the backspacing of the Methods, I think the wheels will end up sticking out about 1-1/2" more than stock.

What stock tires do you have?

There's a Sahara in my parking garage that put stock Rubi tires on a set of black pro comps. Looks fine IMO. Might look a little odd with the stock street tires though.

I'm not sure how much these wheels go for, but the only other thing I'd say to consider is that if you shop around for a smaller wheel (15" or 16") you'll likely be able to get new wheels and tires now for much less than this set of 17" wheels and new tires to fit them later when your stockers wear out. Smaller wheels--and the tires that fit them--are cheaper. Just a thought.

Right now, I have the stock tires from the Sport with "S" package. Definitely more street than the Rubi tires. The wheels are about $160/each.

I appreciate your thoughts. Is there a more aggressive looking tire that is still good for the reality of my - mostly street - driving situation? Maybe it's the Rubi set?

Your "S" package wheels and tires are 255/17/17 Wrangler SR-A tires on 17" OEM alloys. You can get your tires brand new from DTD or a few others for $116 per tire. I sold my SR-As tires only for $500. If you throw in those wheels too you might get $700. They are pretty common but people use them on various set ups so there no hard to sell.

It won't look stupid with a regular tire, but it would look better with a good tire.
