Just bought it, and am loving it. I sold my 2007 Roush 427R Mustang, and went with this Jeep. Two door, no power locks, windows, nuttin. I'm probably going to mod it here and there, but for now, it's stock other than the 17 inch wheels and GoodYear tires. I'm sure I will enjoy reading all of the posts as far as what everybody has done to theirs, and have a bit of JK envy reading the same. Thanks for the welcome!
Welcome and congrats on the new Jeep! I am new here and to the Jeep world as well. It sounds like we have a similar story - I sold my 2005 Mustang GT earlier this year and bought a 2013 JK Wrangler Sport with 6 speed in Commando Green, with only a 3.73 and hard top for options. I've added some Cooper AT3 285/70/17's on Black Rock wheels and a set of Ace rock rails, and always thinking about the next mod.
Welcome,
Northern Michigan is a great place for a Jeep. There are trails everywhere in the UP. There's also an annual Jeep Jamboree on Drummond Island.
That's funny. I'm in process of selling my mustang gt modded out for a JK. I'm taken a bath with regards to losing my ass on the upgrades. Can't determine if its worth getting the power windows /locks for the JK.
My '04 Lightning is still in the driveway along with my '12 JK. I just can't get rid of that truck, I love it. I really should since I drive it maybe 20 times a year at most. But I bought a '11 Suzuki GSX-R this Summer and that's the speed toy now.
I'm jealous about the manual windows and locks. I tried like mad to find mine without the power.
Thanks onetraveller for the Jamboree info too. I hope to get the family up that way this summer. I am originally from SE Michigan but spent some great summers in the UP. Now living in exile on the east coast.
I think you really only NEED power windows and locks if you have the 4-door honestly. It's not all that far over there to reach it. I think you should have gone for half doors and you could have avoided the whole power locks/windows issue
