Newbie Questions about what to buy

Alright her I go with the newbie questions!!!

I have a 2011 Wrangler Sport. I am looking at being able to handle some of these trails up here in AK and daily driver. I am really looking into buying a Rubicon Express 3.5 Super Flex SA lift kit. Now for the question...

Every where I am looking it says this kit will fit 2007-2010. Do I have to wait for a kit that is for 2011? Is there a difference between a JK 07-10 and JK 11?

Quadratec.com say that drive-shafts are "required" but RE website says recommended for front and maybe required for rear...Do I buy them or not? Is this really necessary right now? Are there any benefits to do everything at once...since I will already have everything taken apart ie make it easier? Now if I buy the drive-shaft stuff now all I need is this stuff right? Ok enough about lifts, now...wheels and tires: I have the stupid looking baby tires and wheels (I believe they are referenced as "BICYCLE" wheels) Can a 33x12.5ish fit these stock rims? I don't think they can but throwing this question out there... So if I need new rims then should I go with 17s? Is there any benefits to having 16 v 17? Or is this personal preference? What would be a good size tire that would look good and perform good? I have a tire in mind just not the sizes...

Sorry for any repeat questions that may already be on here; however, I looked and couldn't find anything that could help me with these questions exactly. I am just left with questions. I really don't want to buy all this stuff and it turns out it won't work because of whatever reason.

Anything else I should get? I am ready to buy this stuff now just being sure I am getting the right stuff. Also, anyone know of a place to get this stuff cheaper? They seem to be all the same price, I just know that shipping will kill me so every savings I can get will help!

Definitely wait until you hear on here or elsewhere that it will work. Don't let money burn a hole in your pocket right now, your Jeep will surely take care of that all by it's self soon enough..

3.5" is way too much for 33's. 2" is more than enough. You don't "need" a lift to go off road. What kind of terrain will you encounter? Start out with some easy trails and get some experience. Soon you will know exactly what you need.

I have been on all the trails that the 4x4 club up go on. But I was on a ATV and even then some of these trails are tricky. They are various types but mainly mud, steep incline/decline, water crossings, snow/ice, rocks in random places...I see a lot of people that take their Jeeps and what not out and they struggle and most the time don't make it to the destination because they can't. I just want to make sure that if I can't make it, it's because I suck at driving (I can always learn), not that my Jeep cannot handle it. Make sense?

Yes, it makes sense. That's why I suggest you get the experience and then learn what you need. Start with Rubicon take off wheels and tires. They will fit as is. You can have a fully modded Jeep, but if you don't know how to drive it you will still get stuck. Driver skill is more important than the vehicle.

It sounds like you should take some time to learn your Jeep and off road with it first. You'll be surprised how much your perspective and wants change after wheelin your Jeep multiple times.

For what i understand on 2 doors its the rear driveshaft that would eventually fail and on the 4 doors its the front.I have the 4 door and so far the DS is still good.I did however got the Tom Woods and its still in the box.So basically its a hit and miss kinda thing.I dont know why theres so many Jeepers out there that have problems with their DS after their lift...maybe it depends on the type of lift i dont know???

Yes you can use 12.5 wide 33s on your stock rims but you have to use wheel adapters so you dont rub your sway bar at full lock.And if thats what you want to run you dont need a lift at all.

As far as rims, 16" tires are cheaper than 17" but i prefer the look of the 17s so TO ME its a matter of preference.

I can show you the other end of the spectrum......your jeep will go places that an ATV won't even dream about going. I assure you it was more than likely operator error, but it does work both ways. ATV's can go places jeeps can't, and Jeeps can go places ATV's can't
