Here we go: Never ending Quality Improvements from Chrysler...

NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 09V436000 NHTSA Action Number: PE09037
Component: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
Potential Number of Units Affected: 161450
Summary:
CHRYSLER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2007 THROUGH 2008 JEEP WRANGLER MANUFACTURE BETWEEN JUNE 2006 THROUGH JULY 2008 PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THESE VEHICLES WERE NOT EQUIPPED WITH A TRANSMISSION FLUID TEMPERATURE WARNING SYSTEM.
Consequence:
FLUID COULD BOIL OVER AND MAY COME INTO CONTACT WITH A HOT ENGINE OR EXHAUST COMPONENT AND CAUSE A FIRE.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND INSTALL A "HOTOIL" MESSAGE IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND A CHIME INDICATING AN ELEVATED TRANSMISSION FLUID CONDITION. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING DECEMBER 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHRYSLER AT 1-800-835-1403.

I still don't believe they addressed the "over heating" issue..Now they will just give you a "warning" that something is cooking underneath you..
Might it be cheaper to install a high efficient oil transmission cooler instead....
Oh NO this is "admitting" that they have an issue.. Now they will inform you when to abandon ship..

YES!!! Another idiot light to look at...It would be nice if they would just fix the damn problem, instead of giving you a couple of minutes warning before the thing burns to the ground!!!!!!!

at least you have a warning now. i think if we get a bunch all of a sudden burning down then they will have to fix the problem this is just the first and cheapest step.

uhm yeh, sounds like a decent attempt to bandaid the problem for now, and it sounds like USANtigoon has it square on the head, trans cooler for the win. parts stores are going to be needing stock of them after owners hear about this...
