NHTSA To Launch Jeep Fire Investigation

From Jalopnik:

EXCLUSIVE: NHTSA To Launch Jeep Wrangler Fire Investigation

EXCLUSIVE: NHTSA To Launch Jeep Wrangler Fire Investigation

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will announce a formal investigation later today into the Jeep Wrangler fires we first reported on in March, Jalopnik has exclusively learned.
This investigation is in response to the numerous well-documented fires involving Jeep's popular off-road SUV and is currently focusing on the approximately 100,000 versions built in 2010.

Lots at the link, didn't see it already posted (though lots of folks have already mentioned stuff like it over on the "Jeep on Fire" thread).

I sense a pending run on insurance claims involving fire.

fire problems

hi, i have had 6 jeeps and very few problems, when doing mods
be carefull of running the hot wires 12v if they are not fused or go direct
to the plus 12v side they can over heat and make problems months later,
also be carefull of radio mods, it's tough to see a jeep go up in smoke!make sure nothing comes close to the cat converter, do one mod at a time take a look at' you tube jeep fires'..be safe..if you are not sure
of what u are doing get a friend to take a look and check things out..

Here's a .pdf of the NHTSA "Defect Investigation" from their website, Safety Problems & Issues

Complaints - Search Results | Safercar.gov | NHTSA.pdf

Note it's dated March 28th, 2012, so this is new. But, Jalopnik's story is dated today, so it's hardly an 'exclusive'.
