Nice Hummer you got there. WTF?

At least once a month someone will tell me "Nice Hummer." Seriously? I know they both have slotted front grills and 4 tires, but the resemblance stops there in my eyes. Anyone else get this?

I think we knew that was going to happen when they went to painted body colored hard tops, especially if it's a 4dr.

It's because this generation (JK) is larger than any previous... Throw-in a lift and some mud tires, and you're bound to hear that. I have too, always from some dumb chick...

Just give them a smack in the mouth. They'll think twice next time.

If that is happening often, I would move. There's probably something unhealthy in the local water supply.

A guy at my work went outside to check out my Jeep after I got the new wheels. He said it looked like a hummer.
"No, it doesn't."
"Yeah, a little."
"No, it doesn't."
"My bad"
"Yeah"

He actually thought he was giving my Jeep a compliment.

Great post and funny replies!

Met a lady at a gas station who told me all about her Dad fighting on foot across Europe in WW-II, and wishing he had a Jeep. Said "...it was the first toy he bought when he got to the point he had more money than kids."

BTW: I was driving an old International Scout, and she thought it was a Jeep (a rather common occurrence), so don't feel too bad.

I remember back in early 2007 when I bought my JKU....I was getting strange looks ALL the time. Not many had seen a 4-door Wrangler before and it was kinda funny to watch people try to figure out what I was driving, lol. And yes, I got the Hummer comment alot back then.

Yes, if you actually drove a Hummer. I thought Jeep owners were a lot better people. Maybe not.

Nope. We're just as f**ked up as everyone else. We just have better taste in what we drive, obviously.

I'm pretty sure that anybody who would say "Nice Hummer" is trying to get a rise out of you and therefore is deserved of a (mild) smack. The Jeep has an iconic appearance that is nearly 75 years old and Hummers aren't even made anymore. Couple that with the fact that your vehicle says "JEEP" right on it and it seems pretty obvious. Nobody could legitimately confuse the two.

$3 and a quick search on Amazon you will find a great bumper sticker that reads "If I wanted a Hummer, I would have called your sister. " This is a must have for any diehard Jeep owner.
I now find myself purposely parking my rig beside Hummers in parking lots now. I once took this girl out on a date, first thing she said was "Ah it looks like a little Hummer" in reference to my Jeep. Needless to say there was not a second date.

A few of my buddies say my jeep looks like a humvee. I guess I can see it when I have my trektop ragtop on. But I don't mind my humvee got me through some crazy sh!t, I know my jeep can handle any thing thrown at it too.

The M998 HMMWV was originally designed and built by AM General Corporation.. formerly known as General Products Division of Jeep.

So it's actually a compliment...

Explain the corporate history and remind them it's not a cheap GM H2 or H3 knock off. Those were built on the GM Tahoe/Suburban frame.

Quote:
American Motors Corporation (AMC) purchased the Jeep Corporation from Kaiser in 1970 when Kaiser itself decided to leave the auto business. In 1971, AMC made the General Products Division of Jeep (producing military trucks, as well as contract and non-commercial vehicles) a wholly owned subsidiary and renamed it AM General Corporation.

There was this douchewaffle working for a dodgey mortgage company upstairs from my office and he bought one of those new Lexus convertibles (this is about 12 years ago).
So he parked it in the motorcycle-only parking area on the first day. I rode up on my bike, got off, gave his new baby the walk around. I ooooo'd and ahhhh'd for him.
Then I said, "wow, nice car, dude. Hyundai has really come a long way," and walked off.
He looked so sad.

I was on the phone with my sister as she was comming to our other sister's wedding. (Her husband was driving) As they pulled into the parking lot she pointed to my Jeep and said "There's Jonathan's Hummer" I wanted to smack her through the phone.

I think the first time I get the stupid Hummer question my response is going to be this: "Please tell me how you think this is a Hummer when GM stopped production on them in 2009 and this vehicle is a 2014!!!" I may even follow it up with calling them an "ass clown."

man you guys are sensitive.

It's going to happen. When they were made H2 all the rich guys were buying them think hey were cool. Since they are gone, rich guys are now buying the JKU dressing them up like they off road.

I will say the h3t alpha was cool and preform.
