I am interested in buying four new tires and have been thinking of the Terra Grappler, hows the ride and are they noisy on the highway.

Give me your thoughts

I run the Terras and they are not noisy at all. Ride is a little stiff because of the rating of the tire, but not bad overall. If I had the cash I would have went with the Duratracs.
Nitto Terra grapplers are perfect for someone who is on a budget, I've got them on my 2-door JK , I love them! If I had the money , I would have gotten some BF goodrich all terrains, or duratechs. But they do their job! they are just a little bit on the stiff side, but relatively quiet! I don't have any carpet either. And the noise still doesn't bother me, good luck to ya!
Could I ask why you would take the duratracs over the terras?

I've had Terra's on my 2010 JKU for 3 years with excellent wear. I have 27000 miles on them and will still have tread for this summer. I 4 wheel almost every other weekend. I would buy the trail grappler though if you do any trail driving.

i've been running the terra's for about two years now and they are great on the highways and decent off-road. if you are going to lots of off-roading i'd suggest the trail grapplers. i only go about once every few months so the terra's are fine but i'm at 28K on them and will be needing to look for more tires in prob another 5-10k

I got my 2012 2 door two weeks ago and it has 265/70r17 terra grapplers on them and i plan on getting bigger more aggressive tires when i get the money. They definitely aren't loud on the road and from the very small amount of off roading i have done they seemed to do pretty good. No complaints from here.

I've been running Nitto Terra Grapplers for about 6,000 miles. I love them. I've had them in every conceivable type of terrain except sand, including snow. They are not loud at all but I believe they are fairly heavy for an A/T.

It seems that Duratracs are the A/T of choice on this forum for some reason but I haven't run them so I don't know.

I've heard people complain about the Nitto's in rain and snow, but where I live there is plenty of both and the Nittos give me great confidence.

In all, I would highly recommend the Nittos.

As you've already read, the Terra's are a fine AT tire. I like mine as they seem to do well in the rain, on the highway and on the light trails/ fire roads that I occasionally find myself on. With my hardtop, I really don't notice any more noise than I had with my stock tires. I'm happy with them, but having said all that I suspect that ill be going with MTs next time. I say that only because I like their more aggressive look and friends (with similar driving habits) love their MTs. I guess my 2 cent point is simply that the Terra's are great but I don't love the look as much as I thought I would. Worthless feedback since buying a tire should be based on your driving needs, but I figured I'd throw it out there anyway.

I can't say from experience but since I was just oogling someone's JKU on the road 5mins ago that had these, the tire was the only thing I questioned. Looked more like an all season tire I had on my Tahoe when I bought it than anything for offroad use.

Not intending to insult anyone. Feel free to correct me. Just wasn't impressed as I saw them on the guy next to me at the light.

I purchased a 2014 JK at 1600 miles I put on the terra grabbers I got the 33” and I run 39 PSI. Great ride. I do about 100 miles per day.

Wow what a difference over stock 17" .

The rid and handling are improved and the noise level decreased by about 50%.

Buy wheels today (BWT) had the best online price and stood behind a small problem I had in shipping. I tried shopping locally but in the end saved on line.

I nearly got the terras but opted to spend the few extra bucks on the duratracs. At the end of the day I think it was the more aggressive tread (specially for an AT) and all the 'hype' sold me. The little snowflake is cool too. Have about 1000 miles on em and haven't looked back.

Don't think you can go wrong with the nittos though.

I've had mine on for about 2 months now and I'm really happy with them. I chose the Nittos since they are available in the 285/75R17 size I wanted. They worked really well for the last snow fall or two that we had this winter and did fine in the little bit of mud I had them in last month. I have a bit more of a trail run planned for next week and I'm looking forward to seeing how they do with some steeper terrain and deeper mud.

I just removed my 285/75/17 Terra's (after 8K miles) and made the jump to 315/70/17 Duras. I was hesitant as the Goodyear is quite aggressive but after running both tires in the same day about an hour apart I found:
The ride quality of the Terras suck. You feel every crack and imperfection in the road with the E load range. Duratracs feel like they are floating in comparison...this was the first and most major thing I noticed.
My main concern, road noise. Duratracs are just slightly more noticeable. Not really a whine, but a faint hum on concrete highways.
The Duratacs do feel a lot bigger through the steering wheel/brake pedal. Obviously I moved up a size so that's expected, but my mileage has not changed a bit.
Price: I got the 275/75/17 Terras for $212 a piece, and the Duratracs for $275. I wasn't too happy about that one.

Final note: I will NOT be going back to the Terra Grapplers. My JKU now rides like its on a cloud which I love, and I was blown away by the lack of road noise. Plus they look 10 times better. If you are worried about the "big" feel of a 35" tire, go with the 33" Duratrac.

Nitto Terra Grapplers on 13JKU- 14" width/ 35" tire

We bought a JKU Sahara this summer with 35" tires/ 20 " rims and the Terra Grappler tires. I love -love-love it! But, it's a bit rough of a ride and wanders a lot on the road grabbing things etc.

We're not sure how deep the rims are, as we bought it this way and we're not wanting to change rims right now. However, in the snow, yesterday, my husband noticed that it really grabbed any snow and wanted to pull the vehicle.

It's my daily driver on the highway and we do limited climbing with it. He loves the climbing performance, through creeks etc. But, I would love to get a little better ride / less pulling if possible.

In reading the posts it seems that these are a more firmly rated tire and we might be better with as narrow as we can and he was saying we need to get new tires in the spring anyway. So, I want to do my research before then.

Please give me any advice you guys have...
