No grease fittings!

I put tereflex 1" spring spacers on the front of my JK yesterday and noticed there are no grease fittings on the front. You would think that Chrysler would put greaseable tie rod ends and ball joints on a vehicle like the Jeep knowing it would be used in extreme conditions. Just a thought!!!

Grease fittings haven't been widely used in 15 years. No point in adding them at the factory. The parts usually make it through warranty without issue and few people used them anyway.

Growing up on a farm I was taught to keep all equipment greased and greased well. Hard to get used to no fittings.

I have never looked on the jeep, BUT the grease fittings haven't been used in 15 years idk about. I work on tour buses (ranging from 1998-2012's) and they all have grease fittings and a schedule for me to hit all of them with a grease gun

If you really want to, you can still grease the parts with no fittings using a needle greaser, but it's a huge PITA to do and will eventually destroy the boots. I never really got used to not having fittings to grease, but once I realized that I would be finding fittings on anything it was pretty easy to quit looking for them.

We aren't talking about tour buses, we're talking about regular vehicles that we all have in our garages, driveways, yards, etc.

JK/JKUs 07 thru 11 have notoriously crapy, part plastic Ball Joints and can be fixed under warranty--if thats the way you want to service your jeep-again and again and again, or

Replace the lousy Ball Joints will SS HD Synergy/Poly greaseable Ball joints--

Works very good and now you have at least ONE grease fitting--

You can also get new Universals, but the stockers are pretty good to begin with, so not worth changing untill failure !

I understand. But grease fittings are also used on semi trucks too so saying they are obsolete is very incorrect.

Where did I say they were obsolete? I'll be patiently awaiting your answer.

That's pretty much calling them obsolete. Also the jeep TJ has seven zerk fittings from what I can find online. I'm working 800+ miles away from my jeep so I can't confirm.

There are zirks all over the front end... I just greased mine a few weeks ago. There is one on/around the pitman arm, that I can remember offhand. let me try to recall the others. I think the wheel bearing units have one of each too.

I agree, but the vast majority don't claim the offroad worthyness that the jeep does. which goes back to the OPs original statement. Why would "the best" not have grease fittings. I think its because the parts are build strong enough, that they dont need grease fittings, in stock condition. thats just my three cents ( and its worth more than your two )

And what percentage of all the vehicle put on the road does that equal? Just because TJs have them doesn't mean they're on every vehicle out there.

The 20 cents or so they save in not putting them on is well worth it in the end. They have been designed to (just) out last the warranty period for the average user, then fail requiring the average user to pay the dealer big bucks to supply and install them.

Spending that extra 20 cents during manufacture to make them easy to refill with grease on a regular basis would mean vast reductions in recurring income for Chrylser and their Dealers after the warranty period.

All Wranglers up to and including the 2006 models had grease fittings.
