No lift, 305/60R18 will they rub or ...........

I am going to switch the tires on my stock wheels (18" x 7.5"). My Wrangler is a 2012 Sahara 4-Dr.(3.6L Penastar, 3.73 gear ratio, CAI and TB spacer). The tires I have from the factory are 255/70R18 (32" x 10" R18) Dueler A/T Tires. The main reasons for the switch are looks and snow (mine is the 4-Dr in the first picture).

I have no plans on a lift. I will not be doing any rock crawling or going up or down anything steep. The biggest obstacles I will have will be pot-wholes and street curbs. I will only be driving over dirt, sand, snow and pavement.

I googled and found some pictures of a 2008 Sahara 2-Dr with the same tires size I am getting and stock 18" wheels and no lift(the 4 pictures of the 2-Dr below). The truck is all stock except for 305/60R18 M/T (32.6" x 12.2" R18) tires and 1.375" wheel spacers.

I am trying to measure the ups and downs.

Will the tires rub when turning or hit when going over those pot-wholes and street curbs?

Will there be any handling changes (steering, braking, acceleration)?

Will the gas mileage be affected?

Will there be a lot more tire noise on the highway?

Is it safe to buy 4 and use my old tire as an emergency spare or do I have to buy all 5?

I don't think I will have to change to speedo gear ( think thats for when the tires are much taller).

Anything else?

They will definitely rub without wheel spacers, unless you get wheels with less backspacing. The slight difference in height will not be an issue.

Absolutely.

Yes. There will be more rolling resistance because of the added width.

Depends on the tire, but most likely, yes.

It would be ok for a short distance, but what are you really saving? Get the 5th and rotate all 5. You will increase overall tread life by 20%. It will also look obvious that you have a different spare.

The speedometer will be off by less than 1 MPH. Car / SUV / Van / Light Truck Tire Calculations

Thanks for the respone. That tire speed calculator was great.

Do you think the difference in acceleration on the highway will be noticable?
