no start after spark plug and missfire

today i changed my spark plugs and started the jeep and it ran rough and CEL came on, i drove to the nearest autozone and they scanned "cilinder 3 missfire" i went home and removed that spark plug and notice the gap was all the way closed, i reoppened the gap to .50, re-installed and tried to start the jeep again NOTHING !!!! no click, no crank. the ETC is ON and CEL.

i tired to unplugged the battery for 30 monutes nothing, fuses seem OK, wth do i try next? anyone experience this?

Got it figured out. Thanks for all of the helpful replies. If I was posting a picture of new rims or a sticker I would've gotten pages of replies. I see that on here a lot, very very few answer to a fellow keeper with a problem

So what was it???? How did the gap get closed on the plug..did you check the gap before installing them? If you didn't you better pull them and gap them.

Maybe nobody had any ideas. I didn't. My immediate thought was you put two of the wires on the wrong plugs and had a misfire -that doesn't explain a plug with a smooshed gap.

In the spirit of helpful replies, how about saying what the fix was so everyone can learn from it!

After countless hours of reading and a sleepless night. This morning I woke up and went borrow a tester and a bada$$ 4000 scanner from a friend that works at a BMW shop (he couldn't help me because he was going on a trip with his family but was also puzzled by it)

Scanned: no codes at all
Test: every fuse, relay and awitch was good.
I unplugged and plug back every connector I could think off and NOTHING
Left the battery unhooked all night. NOTHING
Removed and installed the fuse for the security system. Nada
FINALLY: i disconnected the battery terminals and ran a little wire connecting both terminals for 30 minutes (I placed a rag over the battery to make sure it didn't made contact with anything) and guess what??? After I conected it all back in place the dam jeep started right back up and runs smooth and perfect.

My wild guess is that the computer sensed the bad plug install and sent a locked down mode to the jeep. Which is weird because the acanner i borrowed didn't read anything at all and No codes

I had a hard time installing that plug (cilinder 3) and I guess it got flattened out in the process. I was pissed at that dam jeep and insulted it and regretted it a lot yesterday but I'm good at admitting when shit goes wrong due to human error but I apologized to her so we are cool now.

From my viewpoint, the reason you see very few answers to certain problems is:
1) I don't understand the problem.
2) I understand the problem but don't have an answer.
3) Someone else already posted what I would suggest.

When a member posts pics of rims or stickers they are usually looking for opinions. Everyone has them.

Very few know the mechanicals of a situation like you had! So why you wanna get all snippity and act as if nobody wants to help you out? Many know about the minor stuff like tires and wheels etc... Doubt your being ignored by your fellow keepers, but nobody had a qualified answer!

After further reading, glad you have it running, sound plausible that maybe it locked down sensing the grounded plug and the the brain thinking there was a mechanical issue like a piston hitting the plug and shit it down to stop any further damage.

different forums have different types of users. I've found that this forum is great for certain things and has an overall cool user base. With that being said, there are other forums out there that focus on the more technical/mechanical aspects of a jeep. Doesn't make one better or worse, but with so many possible discussion points on a wrangler.. one forum can't be all things to all people.
