Not only do the responses in this thread make me laugh, so does the topic.
I know when I had my CJ7, I thought Wranglers in general were too plush...too civil. I told everyone, at that time, that I would never own a Wrangler. Square headlights, squared roll cage, car-like dashboard...what?! lol
Anyway, now I find it funny that Wrangler owners argue amongst themselves to which was the better model span.
It's all good.

i've never owned a jeep wrangler nor a jeep product ever. i was always under the impression new or old their " Rugged" vehicles.... i mean to say the thing is Plush. when i hear plush i think of Bmw or mercedes leather heated and cooled seats, 7 inch in dash screen. back up camera in the rear view mirror. the whole 9 yards.

In all seriousness, compared to earlier Jeeps, the JK is quite comfy. Compared to other vehicles in the SUV family, it might as well be Fred Flintstone's car. I can say without a doubt, my '13 "Wagoneer" is primitive compared to my wife's '06 X3. Both 4wd, but worlds apart.

If you are looking for rugged, non plush, only you the buyer can decide what level you want to suffer!

I'm finding the best thing about the Wranglers is you can take them apart and put them back together the right way. Jeep has been skimping on the quality of their parts for awhile now. Everything from inferior stock bolts to no center rear support in the back seats of the JKUs. Heck even the factory skids are thin. BUT unlike other vehicles they are easy to work on and you can make them as plush or rugged as you want

You have to be joking, right? Last couple years?

Check out the Willy's Jeep Stationcar... did you know this was discussed among Jeep owners in 1946?

You guys crack me up ... the line was erased before you and I was born.

Memory is first thing that goes ... after that everything blends together. If you're off by a year, you're doing pretty good.

The memory loss is likely from all the mercury in the dolphins you've been eating.

You buy that one and I will buy this one ...

The Wagonmaster - Located in Kerrville, Texas we offer the finest pre-owned Jeep Grand Wagoneers, Jeep Sport Utility Vehicles, station wagons, Wagoneers and Jeep 4x4's.

Actually, after seeing an unrestored original in perfect condition several months ago, I would consider an older restored SJ - however, finding interior parts would be a problem.

I love older vehicles.. so much character. They represent an era when life was simple and less complicated.

You've obviously been drinking the wrong beer, cause I've tasted dirt, and it tastes nothing like the beer I drink. Although, the beer I like is the same color as black earth

I like that one too. I used to own a 71 wagoneer gladiator as my first jeep that was awesome. Had the AMC 360, 3spd auto and everything worked fro mteh AC to the power rear window. Sure i only got about 9MPG but that thing was rock solid and went anywhere i pointed it. Had 35k miles when i bought it and then the power steering pump leaked and dripped on the manifold and caught fire. if i only knew what i know now i wouldn't have sold it....but i did still make money on the sale which was pretty good.
