Not even a thousand miles on my 2011 JK *Sigh*

Well I finally got my jeep back in September and was enjoyin the heck outta it when one night headin back to the barracks I get t-boned by a minivan on the passenger side. I wasn't at fault she was tryin to race the red light... But still I had only put 863 fun as heck miles on the hammer before it happened. What a shame, now I don't get to see her till just before thanksgiving.

First of all, glad you seem to be okay. Secondly, sorry to hear that man. That sucks. Damage must be pretty bad to not get it until then. Is her insurance paying you depreciation for having a NEW vehicle now be a wrecked vehicle? I honestly don't know anything about this, but I believe I've heard about people being able to collect on something along these lines because yeah they're fixing it, but it's still worth considerably less than a sub 1000 mile Jeep that hasn't been wrecked.

It's called diminished value and they won't willingly do it. He'd have to hire a lawyer most likely.

Fight for diminished value.
Also, take the settlement money and have the Jeep repaired at a 4x4 shop. Get aftermarket items to replace the bent stuff.

You got lemons; make lemonade.

Hope it works out for you and glad you're not hurt.

Minivan drivers are the worst!

Hmm. Perhaps that's an unfair generalization.

Glad you're not hurt. I'd do like Hilldweller suggested, and use the opportunity to add some of the things you want for your Jeep.

Thanks j0nx and HD. I knew someone would know what I meant. To the OP, I'm with HD on this. I would fight for it!

I got $2000 in a diminished value settlement when my wife's MINI got tagged.
You don't have to take their first, second, third, fourth... etc offer.
I also picked the shop where it got fixed, picked the repair materials. The repair cost about 3 times more than they wanted to pay at first using one of their cut-rate shops.

You have rights.

yes.. a friend of mine had the same thing happen. make sure you get the extra value back. because when you trade it in, they will not hesitate to bring up how it was wrecked and deduct something off the price..

good luck!

Well I did get a broken hand outta the deal my hand came off the stick and punched the dash in front of it, but other than that I was fine. I did get to pick where it is gettin repaired and talked to the owner and am havin aftermarket stuff put on already and the depreciating value isn't a concern I got quite the deal from their insurance company since she was a 15 year old driver on permit. I coulda got so much more but decided to quite while I was already ahead.

I got pix of my rig but dont wanna dig them up right now, the van hit the area of the roll bar just and smacked the rear pass. wheel and bent the axel but the brunt of the hit was absorbed by the roll bar. Her vans' front end was like something you see on those drunk driving videos, both her front tires blew out and the engine was pushed back. she hit me doin about 45 -50 mph.

You think?

448,000+ miles in four Dodge Grand Caravans in the last 11 year with no accidents and no tickets here.

Motorcycle drivers are the worst!

Hmm. Perhaps that's an unfair generalization.
