NOW hothead headliners go on sale.... sheesh...

Bought and installed my Hothead headliners this week.

Of course, NOW they go on sale - 12.5% off

Easy install. Reduced wind noise, quieted cab. Supposed to be great insulators summer and winter.

If you're thinking about headliners, take a look....

How do they install if you don't mind me asking, temps around here have been between 103-107F for a while, and the roof gets SCORTCHING hot.

I got the permanent, 3M adhesive tape version. They also make a Velcro version. Install is a cinch. Just follow the directions and do a dry run first, to make sure you have everything lined up, before you remove the protective layer from the glue strips.

Search YouTube for the videos on how to install. It really is very easy. No need to remove top or anything.

But, you might not want to take the word of one of those "newbie 2012ers"

Although mine isn't "HotHeads" mfg (great reviews), mine has lasted over two years in the Nevada -10/115° cold/heat--so

Pay close attention to the install info, especially regarding TEMPERATURE AND SURFACE CLEANLINESS !!

I'd sure contact them, and would be surprised if they didn't honour the new sale price if you just bought yours. Many retailers give 30 days...

A jeep is worth it because of what it is. The headliners seem pricey for what they are...my only point. I don't even have my (second) jeep being built yet.

I am not sure mental make up has anything to do with it, however ingenuity may have lots to do with it. Does anyone know what these marketed product are made of? Could it be that they are made of a simple material that could be purchased for less and then covred?

Or what about a product called Lizard Skin? for 150 bucks you can cover the entire roof.... just thoughts to save some money from a not so mentally challenged guy

Peace,
Mick

You better check on the heat retention/reflection index for that "Lizard skin", it may look OK, but do nothing for heat/cold-

I used Acustic-thermal auto insulation "under" my headliner and it's AOK !

I have not had a winter with our JKU 11 - is the roof that cold - ie is there no insulation in it? I really like the white roof inside our yellow jeep. Up here the outside temps get to -20F in the dead of winter.

It's not the cold thats the problem, even though there isn't any insulation in these hardtops--

The JK/JKU heaters are more than adequate-it's the "HOT" summers we have in the south and Northern deserts--

My NorNv desert gets up to 115° F during the summer and without my hardtop insulation, it would tax the OBA/C--

I don't think you have any real heat problems up there and the other advantage of the insulation is --NOISE SUPPRESSION-mine is whisper quiet--even on the freeway-traffic--

Can'tbeatem--

Damn, that looks good! told the wife I was going to order, put to much money into the Jeep this year, so she was less than excited about it, so Jan 1st, I'll order (an agreement about no more parts for the Jeep this year, and money is burning a hole in my pocket right now....)

Just ordered the liners for the top and the side windows, both Velcro. Figured I would do that, see how I like the black and white look. If not I can easily remove the insulation and do a better job painting more of the top than the permanent vhb solution.

These are expensive but they work and look great. Really helped the acoustics when using bluetooth phone too. Look like they were meant to be there.
