NOW I love my Jeep.

So I've been on this board since November when I bought my 2012 JKU.

I've benefitted from a Ton of great information and pictures which helped immensley with the decisions that needed to be made regarding Lift, Wheels, and Tire size.

I've been obsessed for three months with the decisions, but I am so happy to say: Phase I Complete!

Phase I consisted of:

Cooper STT 295's
Rugged Ridge 17" wheels in matte black - bought from Quadratech
Rock Krawler 2.5" Flex System Lift - bought from KrawlOff-Road
The Bolt Upgrade Kit - bought from EAD Offroad
Black Stubby Antenna - bought from AntennaX
Side Stickers Removed

Thanks to all the vendors and members that I bugged the crap out of as I obsessed over every detail! Special thanks to kbwwolf and MTH for being very patient with my questions.

Here are a few pics... as others have noted, you really can't get the true perspective of the change 33" tires make in pictures. They look much bigger and beefier in person!

Looks really good, congrats on everything! Next, rip off those side steps and smack on some OR-Fab or Poison Spyder rocker guard side armor.

How are those Coopers on the road? Do you experience more road noise than the stock tires?

Looks sharp!

More rubber on the road, and a more aggressive tread, has to have more noise than the stockers, but it is not bad at all.

Check out the top "stickied" thread in the JK Forum entitled "The importance of changing out stock bolts!". At only 3,000 miles I already had damage to my sway bar from the stock threaded bolt. The kit of new bolts is only $65 at EAD Offroad (a vendor on this forum), and they throw in free shipping.

Both of those mods are "on the list", but I think Phase II will either be upgrading the headlights, upgrading the brakes, or upgrading the sound system.

Man, your Jeep looks fantastic! Congrats on weeding through the dizzying variety of stuff available and putting together a great-looking combo.

I love those RR wheels, by the way. They look even better with those Coopers on em.

Great work!

Your Jeep looks great!
Well done sir
I agree with the others who say it is time to graduate to rock rails.

Man that color with black trim and lifted really does look good.

love the color of your Jeep... also that tire and rim combination looks awesome! I'm going with a similar set up with mine.

I'm still trying to decide between a few tires. How do these tires feel on the road vs the stockers? What made you go with the Coopers ?

How they feel: More stable. The Jeep feels more grounded. There is a tiny bit of feel from the aggressive tread (compared to stock), mostly at low speeds. On the highway there is almost no feel of the tread. There is a little bit more noise, but nothing bad.

Why I chose the Coopers: I initially wanted to go with the Duratracs, but in the 17" wheel size, they only come in 285 or 315. I had determined that since this is my daily driver, I did not want to go 315 (35"). Then I did some research and found out that the Duratrac in 285 is not a full 33" tire, it's only 32.8", and when I rolled it up to the Jeep, I just wasn't happy with how it looked. The 295 Cooper is 33.4" which filled in the wheel-well better, and is a very highly rated tire for wear and noise, as well as being aggressive off-road.

Why remove the shock boots? Just put a drainage slit in em. Mine are still on.

Besides, think how embarrassed they'll be, here on the forum, everybody ogling them, cold and exposed, naked.

Naked shocks lol

Could do that. Odd that the rears are "up-side" down... Or are they not?

Exactly.

Maybe it's just me, but I refuse to lay the long eye on another man's uncovered shocks. It just wouldn't...feel right.
