that is a very common problem in wranglers and cj's. the windshield is at almost a 90* angle so things tend to hit it dead on rather than roll off. it is something that we all have become accustomed to.
My JK winshield was $340, I think thats a bit much but can't do anything about it so cop it on the chin If it gets cracked I will just wait untill I have to get a safety check again, thats every 2 years in Ut, then get a new one ,cracks don't bother me unless they leak
After all these years of immunity, I just got my first starburst on the way to Moab! Thought watching out for trucks etc. was keep my out of range. Car passed and there it went. I was initiated!
Actually got the starburst somewhat fixed for $30 bucks in Moab at a glass shop. It held together great and did not expanded on the trails. And it is not in the line of vision so may wait for the next inevitable rock to hit it before replacing it. Think maybe I just need to get out more so I can buy more windshields.
Yep, it happens!
"Take nothing but memories,
leave nothing but 'light tread marks'."
I carry a $50 deductible on my comprehensive insurance. If I have a glass claim, it doesn't raise my rates.
If it's a star chip, they fix it for free.
I've had the glass replaced twice and this one has a chip repair in it now.
06 Rubi with some sort of double ended, chrome knobbed, cross threaded, infinitely adjustable, frequently breakable, worn out flammywhammers zip tied onto it.
It used to be a jeep thing... til that sh!t broke!
i drove with a crack alittle longer than that at the top of the windshield in my previous tacoma for over 4 years... just never wanted to get it fixed, it grew some over the winters but i finally fixed it before i sold it to buy my JK
Ours broke at 600 miles on the OD. Zero deductable on comprehensive, so all i had to wait for was the glass company to get the glass, then they drove to my work and did it in the parking lot. Wife wasnt happy to see her new jeep with a broken windshield though......always happens when i drive it.....hehe
****its better to ask forgivness after then asking for permission before***
In Florida the insurance co's will fix windows with no charge to the owner.
Be lucky is they renew your policy after the glass is fixed!!!!
21st didn't renew my policy because of that.
Then I changed to Geico and lets see what happen.
I replaced the windshield last year with geico and my policy is close to renewal.
BTW and I allready have 2 cracks on my windshield!!!!
