Obert Hajj's JKUR build thread

It's a little hard to call this a build there as out 2012 Bright Silver Unlimited Rubicon came with most of the larger mods already done to it. We bought it June 24th with the following mods already installed:

Rancho 4" lift (RANCHO RS9000XL adjustable shocks)
315/70R17 Goodyear Wrangler Dura Trac
17" Chaos, MB Wheels
Uniden PRO520XL CB
Tuffy JK Single Compartment Overhead Console
Bed lined Rubi Rails and fender flairs
KC windshield lights
Bestop under seat lock box

This is what it looked like when we bought it

The wife did not really like the CB and Tuffy console, so both of those were removed.

The first modification that we did to it was to add some Ace Rock Sliders. I wanted them to match the Rubi rails and fenders, so they had to be bed lined as well.

Ace rock sliders: $433
Remove black powder coat: $75
Bed lined: $280

Total Mods: $788

The second group of mods consisted of a Vector Offroad JKE Dock and Ram mounts to mount our iPhones and any other devices to the dash in an easy to see and reach location.

Vector Offroad JKE Dock: $109
RAM mounting hardware: $54

I also wanted to carry on with the sliver/black/red color combo the original owner had started, so I replace the Jeep logo on the front with a black one.

Black Jeep logo: $12

Around this time we also sold the old CB for $25. So now the Jeep is paying for it's self! lol

Total mods: $938

To replace the old CB, we picked up a Cobra 75 WSXT. We liked this one much better as there is no base unit, just the head/mic and a small box that gets hidden under the dash someplace. We also purchased the Cool Tech JK Ultamount CB Antenna mount. This relocated the old antenna setup from behind the spare tire on the gate (where it slapped up against the hardtop all the time), to the license plate frame.

Cobra 75 WSXT CB: $73
Ultramount kit: $90

This is the only part of the CB setup that is visible when we disconnect the 75 WSXT when not out Jeep'n.

Here you can see how clean the install is when the hand unit is stored in the center console.

And this is the antenna mast coming out of the Ultramount.

In that last photo you can also see the Rugged Ridge Euro Tail Light Guards that we purchased used from a forum member (we bought these much later, but since you can see them in this pic, I included them here)

Rugged Ridge Euro Tail Light Guards: $30 (new they would have been $53).

Total mods: $1131

The next round of mods included a set of very slightly used Trek Armor seat covers. I could seriously barely tell they were used at all!

Trek Armor seat covers: $345 (new they would have been $580)

With summer coming around finally here in Colorado, we wanted to get the top off some. That required a hoist of some type so that I could do it by my self while the wife got the kids ready for the Jeep'n trips.

Again I found a great deal here on the forum for a brand new, "used" hoist.

Harken 200# Hoist: $130 (new it would have been $160)

To install the hoist my self, I had to get creative when it came time to mount the extra support boards to the ceiling.

With the top off and the kiddos in the back, we really need some protection from the sun, so a shade was in order.

Spiderweb Shade: $104

Total mods: $1710

Next up we did several smaller mods that I don't really have photos of. I'll try and add those in the near future.

Tactical Voodoo MOLLE Med Kit: $85

Lowepro MOLLE water bottle holders: Free These are from the camera bag world and I had a gift certificate from a birthday 4 years ago, so I picked these up to put on the back of the back seat. One holds sun screen and the other a collapsible umbrella. Hey, it is a family vehicle! lol

Trailhead auto deflators: $58

Autometer peak and hold tire pressure gauge: $25

Antenna X 13" stubby antenna: $17

Total mods: $1895

After doing lots of research and wavering back and forth, I finally made up my mind on what to run for a winch and front/rear bumpers.

For the winch, I finally went with the tried and true Warn M8000, but got the -S model with the synthetic line.

Warn M8000-S: $899

So that I would not run the risk of mangling my hand in the winch and to give the wife some peace of mind, we also picked up a Factor 55 Safety Thimble.

Factor 55 Safety Thimble: $160

For the bumpers, the JCR Crusader line won out in the end.

JCR Crusader Front Mid Pre-runner bumper: $586
- Skid for said bumper: $104
- The 2012 has electronic disconnects: $15
- Bed lined to match rest of Jeep: $250

JCR Crusader Rear Tire Carrier bumper deluxe: $997
- 2x Rotopax mounts: $48
- Rotopax 2 gallon gas can: $60
- Rotopax 2 gallon water can: $40
- Bed lined to match rest of Jeep: $250
Shipping on all of that: $265

4x Body Armor 3/4 Clevis D-rings, textured black: $60

Total mods: $5111+

Nice work. I love the textured look. This might have changed my mind about bedliner.

Thanks. The texture comes in nice when it's wet and you need to climb up on the bumpers for something.

I've got an excel sheet going on it just to keep track. The running total posted here is really to give others an idea of what things actually cost.

Thanks, I thought others might find that useful. Anyone can look the prices up online once they know what the parts are, but this way they don't have to since I've already had to do it!
